Do you have kids that love to listen and especially play music? If so, I am very happy to be able to tell you all about an amazing new product that I was recently given the opportunity to review. It’s called the Beamz Player and it’s a gadget that you connect to your computer & allows you to play music on laser beams that are projected within the product.
“The Beamz Player Interactive Music System is a user-friendly music controller triggered by laser beams that allows consumers to create music by playing light. With Beamz, anyone may expand beyond just listening and experience music in a whole new way – by adding movement and creativity to make music by touching laser beams and interacting with light. For tweens who love their iPods or playing music games like.”
Here is a video that demonstrates the Beamz Player:
The Beamz Player has been listed as one of the Top Toys for Tweens on the Toy Insider list for the 2010 holiday season, which appeared in the November issue of Woman’s Day Magazine.
I know this is geared more towards tweens and teens, but I let my six year old have a crack at this. He’s been in drum lessons for about four months now and he’s progressing rapidly at that, so I knew the Beamz Player would be right up his alley! It was literally Christmas come early for him when I set it up and let him have at it. Each laser beam triggers a different pre-programmed instrument or sound when you swipe your hand against it, so you can create your own music and literally come up with something unique every time.
The set up was a piece of cake, too. All you have to do it plug it into your PC or laptop and you’re ready to get started. My son played this for hours and hours. My three year old even tried it out, too. There is no limit to what kind of musical arrangements that you can create. This is a product that encompases any music style: rock, pop, jazz, blues, classical, dance, hip hop and club music. This toy is fun, engaging and prompts kids to be creative….how can you go wrong with something like that?
Here are some things you can do with your Beamz Player:
- Interact with music videos and “join the band” by adding in harmonious instrument tracks and sound effects that complement popular video songs from leading artists licensed from Disney and EMI
- Change the course of top-hit songs and “be the band” by playing with “Jam” versions of popular songs from Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Michael Jackson, The Eagles, The Beatles, and The Black Eyed Peas to name a few
- Explore hundreds of different instruments and sound effects with Beamz original song compositions created by independent artists encompassing all music styles and genres
- Compete for the high score with ShadowBeamz, the interactive music game that comes with the system.
The Beamz Player includes 50 songs and users may add to their song library at http://thebeamz.com/shop/category/songs. The Beamz song library includes music to appeal to all ages and music interests. Beamz Original and Top-Hit Jam Songs are just $2.99 each and Video Jam Songs are $3.99 each. You can purchase the Beamz Player at Brookstone, FAO Schwarz, Amazon, ToysRUs and many others. The Beamz Player retails for $199.95.
My family thoroughly enjoyed the Beamz Player. I absolutely love that this is a product that anyone can use and that no musical experience is needed. If your kids show interest in music, and especially creating their own, then the Beamz Player is absolutley something to consider. It’s easy to use and the possibilities are endless.
