Pretty much everyone knows that I got married in Vegas on 10/10/10, but for those of you who are new here, now you know. We were married at the Viva Las Vegas chapel not too far off the strip. The ceremony was a blast, the minister (Elvis) who performed the ceremony was awesome and in general everything went off with out a hitch. Until now.
During the ceremony, the chapel provided a photographer as part of the package. My sister & brother in law (and their son) flew in from California to stand up for us, but when my SIL started to snap photos, she was told she couldn’t. Apparently only the photographer was supposed to be taking pictures during the actual ceremony. I was never told that I couldn’t take my own pictures (it was MY wedding afterall?!?!) & was aggrivated at the time, but let it slide….it was my wedding day and I didn’t feel like getting into it with the photographer? She set up the camera and I trusted that she was going to get some good shots of Chris & myself getting hitched.
Once the ceremony was over, we were told the proofs would be ready in four to six weeks. A few days after the ceremony, I got an email with all the proofs and I was VERY disappointed. The photographer really did a terrible job. Half of the pictures were off center and she only took six or seven pictures during the actual ceremony. There were a whole bunch of posed pictures that we took afterwards, but I wanted a lot more of the actual ceremony, especially since I wasn’t able to have anyone take pictures for me with my camera. But, I sat down and decided which pictures I wanted to order and faxed in the order (and payment) the following day.
Anyway, the six week mark came and went, and of course we hadn’t received the pictures we ordered & paid for. Chris called them to see what the hold up was, and another few weeks later, we FINALLY had our pictures (and when I say called them, I mean he went back and forth with them on the phone several times because they couldn’t seem to figure out what was going on). We were supposed to get a certain number of prints that were included with the package, which is all well and good, but they left out a couple of pictures when they sent them, so we’ve been leaving message after message with no calls being returned. I realize they were the free pictures that were included with the package, but I still want them. Nothing like getting the run around, huh?
I am really disappointed with the way things have been handled by Viva Las Vegas & highly doubt I’ll ever see those pictures, so if you’re planning on getting hitched in Vegas, may I suggest you try a different chapel? My wedding day was a truly one of the happiest days for me and I have so many happy memories from it. Thankfully, because there is very little photo proof from that day.

Of all the days you don’t want messed up! You’d think that if you were going to buy a package, that they’d also let you use your own camera for additional shots. So not cool that you are being yanked around.
That sucks. I had a professional photographer at my wedding in ’08 and still don’t have mine. There is this whole back story to it. But we are still waiting.
That really sucks! A) I can’t believe that they wouldn’t let a family member take snapshots and b) WTF? Send the pictures already! It’s not like your looking for pics from a BBQ—-they are from a wedding!
That stinks
I think it’s cool that you got hitched in Vegas though. If I had to so it all over again…I definitely would do that.
Fellow Blog Hopper:)
That’s terrible! The whole point of PAYING a photographer is to get great pictures!
That is such a bummer! Since when can’t you take your own pics at your own wedding??!!
