I’ m back with another one of my famous cocktail recipes!  The Strawberry Martini – and yes, it’s as good as it sounds

The very first thing you need to do is chill your martini glasses.  I put them in the freezer for about 10 minutes and that usually does the trick.  Next, you need rim those glasses with sugar. Yes, you need to.  It totally makes the drink!   When I rim a glass for strawberry martinis, I slice a big, fat, juicy strawberry and rub it around the rim of the martini glass.  The rim should be very lightly coated with the juice from the strawberry. Then simply dip the glass in a bowl of sugar.  Easy Peasy.

Now on to the actual drink.  Put a handful of fresh strawberries (five or six ripe, juicy ones) into a bowl and mash them up.  I use the back of a spoon, but you can mash ‘em how ever you like as long as they are pretty mushy when you’re done.  One you’ve mashed them up, put them into a shaker with some ice.

Then add about 2 ounces of vodka (I use strawberry vodka in my strawberry martinis), a squirt of grenadine (think Shirley Temples), a squirt of lime juice and a shot of dry vermouth.

Shake until it’s well mixed (about 30 seconds), garnish with a fresh strawberry and enjoy!
