I recently had the chance to take my family to the circus and it was the first time I had been to see it in about 30 years. The last time I saw a Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey production was with my parents, brother and sister in Boston. My brother was really little at the time (maybe 4 or 5) and at some point during the show a clown was shot out of a cannon. The loud noise sent my poor little brother in to hysterics so badly, that we all actually ended up having to leave the show. He just wouldn’t calm down until we left. But such is life, right?
Anyhow, when I found out that Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey LEGENDS was coming to the TD Garden in Boston, I was excited to take my kids. I just knew that they would love the show and I was right.
Disclosure: My family received complimentary tickets to see LEGENDS from the folks at Feld Entertainment. All opinions expressed here are strictly my own and were not influenced in any way.
They don’t call it the greatest show on earth for no reason! The show started off with a bang, showcasing everyone and everything that we were about to see during the show in parade-style fashion. It was an amazing preview of what is to come over the next two hours.
During the two hour show, we saw circus feats that were so amazing, I would have thought they were impossible. Ringling Brothers has managed to find the most skilled circus performers for LEGENDS. We saw majestic animals, an array of exotic performers from all across the globe, daredevils and so much more during the show. The entire audience was absolutely mesmerized.
One of our favorites was the fearless Torres Family and their Globe of Steel. There were EIGHT motorcycles riding around in 16-foot steel globe at 65 miles per hour!!
Alexander Lacey and his Big Cats (lions, tigers and even a leopard) were my boys favorites. They couldn’t believe how the cats listened to Alexander’s commands.
Of course, Elephants are always the stars of the circus and during LEGENDS, they are no exception. They performed some truly amazing tricks for the audience!
If you were to ask my eight year old, he will tell you that Klose’s Performing K9’s were his favorite part of the show. These dogs perform tricks and they are so good at it. They were jumping through hoops and doing all kinds of fun tricks – and they made it look easy because they are all so well trained.
At Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey LEGENDS you will see:
- Alexander Lacey and his Big Cats
- Elephants doing amazing tricks for you
- Music and humor from Ringmaster Jonathan Lee Iverson (who has a wonderful voice by the way) and his sidekick Paulo Dos Santos
- Amazing stunts done on horseback by the Tchalabaev Cossack Troupe
- The China National Acrobatic Troupe jumping, spinning, dancing and balancing.
- The Torres Family of motocross performers riding around all at once in that 16-foot globe I told you about earlier
- The Tuniziani Troupe on the trapeze
- Animal antics by Vicki Zlilak and Alex Petrov’s goats, ponies, and other farm animals, plus Hans and Mariya Klose with their shelter dogs (and a pig!) turned circus stars
- The Motorcycle Highwire act that was beyond ah-mazing.
- Lots of funny clowns!
The show was truly spectacular. Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey always puts on a wonderful show and this one was no exception. I highly recommend it if it comes to your area.
And in case you are wondering, I mentioned that it is a two hour show already, but there was a 20 minute intermission, which gave us a chance to use the restroom and grab some more snacks.
