Culinary Fight Club is a National Food Sport Organization. They produce live cooking competitions to highlight local Culinary Talent, ingredients and resources. Culinary Fight Club competitions take place in Chicago, Omaha, New Orleans, Cincinnati, Boston, Knoxville, Johnson City, Pittsburgh, Virginia Beach, Charlotte, Twin Cities, Kansas City, Montgomery, Charlotte, Charleston, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Los Angeles and now Boston!  I was invited to attend the inaugural Boston event and it was such a fun experience.

The Chefs Competing in Boston’s First Culinary Fight Club Event.

Culinary Fight Club brings the passion of a high-energy kitchen and the thrill of a timed competition for you to enjoy. As a self proclaimed foodie and someone who is obsessed with cooking competition shows on the Food Network, it was amazing to be able to attend an event like this live and see the chefs in action with my own eyes.  No two events are the same, with new teams and themes every time, so you will definitely want to attend as many events as possible.

At each event, attendees watch as contestants from home cooks to executive chefs race for their pantry and have 45 seconds to pick their ingredients. Contestants get to choose from 15 provided ingredients. From there, contestants have 60 minutes to create the most gourmet dish that represents their take on the theme, which this time was pork. The audience and judges vote and decide on a winning dish.

The Chefs were ready to run for their ingredients!

The five chefs got as many ingredients as they could in 45 seconds!

Any ingredients that fell on the floor could not be used by the chefs. As careful as they all tried to be, there were a few things that ended up on the floor.

Once each of the five chefs in this competition had chosen their ingredients from the pantry, they then had 60 minutes to make their dish.  It was so much fun to walk around and see each one of them in action.

In addition to being an incredibly fun event, Culinary Fight Club events give back to the 501(c) (3) non profit organization Fight2Feed, an organization that partners top restaurants with food trucks to provide service and support to hungry families in our communities. Each ticket helps fund Fight2Feed, an that organization has fed over 30,000 people since its launch in 2014. The food from this particular event went to Rescuing Leftover Cuisine.

As I mentioned, each competition has a theme and Boston’s first theme was “pork”. Chefs used Dole & Bailey Pork Products and to battle to create the best pork dish in less than 60 minutes. The pantry was provided by Reinhart Foodservice and people that attended the event received sponsored beverages from Nolet’s Silver Dry Gin and the Mayflower Brewing Company, where the competition was hosted.

Chef Mike Fucci’s Final Dish.

In the competition there were five chefs battling to receive a golden ticket for the World Food Championships.

The Competitors were:

  • Executive Chef Brian McElhiney
  • Chef & Owner Gregg Brackman, G Bar and Kitchen
  • Executive Chef & Owner Mike Fucci, Chef Mike’s Catering
  • Executive Chef Dan DeLancey, The Lobster Trap
  • Executive Chef Jay Austin, Stephanie’s On Newbury

The judges had a tough decision, but were able to narrow it down to one winner!

After the judges had made their decision, it was up to the attendees to try a bite from each of the chef’s and cast their votes.

In case you’re wondering who won the inaugural Boston Event, it was chef Gregg Brackman.

Here he is plating his meal for the judges:
