Disclosure: I was selected to work with Chevrolet and SheBuysCars as a Boston Auto Show Ambassador.  Although compensation was received, all opinions expressed here are strictly my own and were not influenced in any way.

Every year I hear I hear all sorts of buzz from my friends about the cool new cars at the Boston Auto Show, but can you believe I’ve never actually attended the show? Crazy, right?  I swear, every year while the show is in town, my Facebook feed is loaded with my friends photos of all the cool cars, but this year I will be joining them because for the first time, I am attending the show! I’m pretty excited about it, too.

You see, I am actually in the market for a new car right now myself. I haven’t come to a final decision yet, but one thing I know for sure is that it has to be an SUV.  I’m just not a mini-van kind of mom. One of the cars I am dying to check out at the show is the new Chevrolet Trax! The Chevy Trax is definitley on my list of vehicles that I am considering purchasing.  Why you ask? Mainly because it’s a small sized SUV and since I’m only 5’2″, smaller cars really just work better for me.

traxThe Chevy Trax has loads of awesome features such as the fact that it’s 4G TLE WiFi hot spot capable and that it has a household plug outlet to name a few.  Not only that, but I think that Orange Rock Metallic colored one (pictured above) would look awesome sitting in my driveway. Oh, and did I mention that the Trax connects to your smartphone, so Siri can read you your texts, etc as you drive.  Score. Continue reading »

spank 50 shades parody

Disclosure:  I received a 4-pack of tickets to attend the show in exchange for hosting this giveaway.  All opinions expressed here are strictly my own and were not influenced in any way**

Two summers ago, I spent pretty much every minute of my precious beach time reading the three 50 Shades books.  They were all the rage at the time and as my boys played in the sand, I sat in my beach chair anxious waiting to read about what Christian and Anastasia were going to do next.

Of course, I didn’t take the books too seriously, but I couldn’t put them down, either.  Last year, SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody played at The Vets in Providence and I was so bummed that I missed it.  Lucky for me, the show is coming back later this month and I am so excited that I am going to be able to have a fun girls night out seeing the show this time around.

SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody is the whip-smart comedy that takes on the naughty fun of the best-selling book and highly-anticipated movie, and brings it to outrageous life! Featuring musical numbers, steamy performances highlighting the famous hunk and his grey tie, and lots of hilarious surprises, SPANK! is bound to have you begging for more. Get in the mood with pre-show cocktails, then stick around and fulfill your fantasy, with the opportunity to take photos with the star himself. It’s a riotous night of fun that will leave your Inner Goddess breathless. Don’t miss your chance for the ultimate “girls’ night out!” Learn more at spankshow.com.

SPANK! takes place at The Vets on Sunday, January 25th at 7pm. Tickets start at $35.50 (plus applicable service fees) and are on sale NOW!  Tickets can be purchased at thevetsri.com, 401-421-ARTS, or the Providence Performing Arts Center Box Office. Continue reading »

If you know me in real life, you already know that I am completely hooked on Dunkin Donuts coffee.  I am not exaggerating when I tell you that  I am there every single day – at least once. Usually I stop at one of their restaurants for coffee a couple of times a day, though.  I am really lucky because where I live, I have four Dunkin Donuts shops within a few miles of my house. Sometimes I just don’t feel like leaving the house to get my coffee from one of their shops, so thankfully Dunkin’ Donuts has K-Cups available so that I can have a cup at home any time I want!

Dunkin Donuts Dark Roast KCups

Dunkin’ Donuts’ has made one of its boldest additions ever to its coffee lineup, with Rainforest Alliance Certified™ DarkRoast Coffee which is now available at Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide.

Dunkin’ Donuts’ new Dark Roast Coffee uses a unique roasting process to bring out key characteristics of different beans, creating a bold flavor and the smooth finish without the bitterness typically associated with most dark roast coffees.  When you go to a Dunkin’ Donuts shop, you can enjoy the new Dark Roast Coffee served either hot or iced, but it is also available for sale for brewing at home in both packaged coffee and in K-Cup® packs.

Dunkin’ Donuts new Dark Roast Coffee features the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal, indicating that it is made with at least 30% coffee beans sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit organization that works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods. Rainforest Alliance certification helps to protect wildlife; safeguard soils and waterways; and improve quality of life for workers, their families and local communities in order to achieve true, long-term sustainability.

**Disclosure: I received compensation from McDonald’s in exchange for writing this review. Although this is a sponsored post, all opinions are my own**

I have to admit that the holidays seem to bring out the hustle and bustle in all of us. I strive so hard to keep my family happy and healthy during the holidays albeit I sometimes fail miserably. I wanted to share my best tips for managing some of the holiday craziness while still on the go.

Plan Ahead

One of my best tips is to plan ahead for the day. You can’t predict every single thing that will happen, but you can plan ahead for what might happen. I write my day down and add a few notes to what I can do to help stay on track and keep things running smoothly.

Tone Down the Schedule

If I feel like things are getting too busy during the holiday season, I pull back and tone things down. It’s important to remember that spending time with family and friends is more important than anything else this holiday season.

Wholesome Fast Food Choices

As much as I love everything on the McDonald’s menu, I like to make the best choices possible and offer those same choices to my kiddos. I’m so excited that McDonald’s is adding fresh fruit items, like Cuties, to their menu! Beginning December 1, 2014, customers nationwide can choose to enjoy Cuties as a side in Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals, as well as “a la carte,” or just purchasing the side option itself Cuties are a sweet and delicious kid-sized fresh fruit choice providing an excellent source of vitamin C and providing about one-quarter (1/4) cup of fruit; they are small and easy-to-hold and peel! Make sure you try the Cuties in your Happy Meal because they will only be served while they’re in season (thru March 2015).

Happy Meal Evolution

The traditional Happy Meal is amazing, but I love the chances that are happening! McDonald’s continues to evolve the happy meal to help keep their smallest customers happy and healthy. Want to know more about the Happy Meal? Continue reading »

A couple of weeks ago, I told you all about how we survive going back to school and in case you missed it, you can read all about it here.  As I mentioned, we are always on the go after the kids get home from school and sometimes I just don’t have time to cook the boys dinner.  That’s where McDonald’s comes into play.  I love that I can swing by McDonald’s on the way home from the soccer field, grab the boys each a Happy Meal and be able to feel good about what I’m serving to my kids.

Each Happy Meal provides wholesome options such as Apple Slices and Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry yogurt. Additionally, 1% low-fat while milk, fat-free chocolate milk and 100% apple juice are the perfect beverage pairing for your kids Happy Meal.  In case you haven’t heard,  later this fall Cuties clementines from Sun Pacific are going to be included as a Happy Meal side as well.

Since this time of year is so hectic for many of us, I wanted to share a few more of my best back to school survival tips. Continue reading »

School is back in full swing and you know what that means…. It means days filled with packing lunches and driving kids to sporting events, all while trying to take care of your daily duties. All of those school year extracurricular activities can fill up your day, making it seem like you don’t even see your kids despite being in the car with them for what seems like hours. As our family is out running around from activity to activity, sometimes it’s been a challenge to grab the kiddos a quick bite of food to feel good about.

And that is exactly why I love McDonald’s.

And guess what? Later this fall, be on the lookout for Cuties clementines from Sun Pacific included as a Happy Meal side as well. My ten year old is already super excited about that – Cuties are his favorite snack.

I am so happy that McDonald’s gives me nutritious alternatives and it’s food that I can grab quickly if we’re in a hurry to get to karate class or the soccer field. Continue reading »

This contest has now ended. Congratulations to #190, Alissa
This review and giveaway was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Febreze. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.

I recently had the opportunity to take part in a Febreze Noseblind Movie Night Event in which I invited three of my besties over for a movie night. We ended up watching Bridesmaids (this is at least the 4th time we’ve watched this movie together) and eating a ton of popcorn.

Before we started the movie, we were supplied with a link to take a quick survey, which was the noseblind test. After the surveys were completed, I made the popcorn and then we all had to complete another quick survey.  After the movie, popcorn and about a million laughs, it was time for the final survey of the night.

I think we all thought that the noseblind test was pretty interesting. We all agreed that when that when the girls arrived, they could smell the meatballs I had made for our family dinner that night, but after I popped the  popcorn, that smell completely took over. By the end of the night, all we could smell were the Febreze products that I had set up in the house (mainly the plugin). Continue reading »

I am a regular at my local Stop & Shop grocery store.  I have been going there for so long that I have the entire store mapped out in my head & make my shopping list by aisle, which allows me to blow in and out of the store in near record time.  HA!

But get this:  Now, when I don’t have the time to actually spend time in the store to do my shopping, I can do my shopping online and my groceries will be ready for me to pick up when I get to the store (after I select the pick up date & time of course).  Talk about a huge time saver.

Here’s how it all works:

Online shopping for Stop & Shop fulfilled by Peapod:

  • Shop online — browse or search the aisles to add items to your cart. Enter your Stop & Shop Card to shop from a list of items you’ve previously bought in the store.
  • Choose a location & pick-up time from the one-hour window that best fits your schedule. Submit and pay for your order.
  • Pick-up your groceries at the Pick-up Point location during the time slot you selected. An associate will greet you and have your groceries loaded into your car, all within 5 minutes.
  • Plus, you still get weekly specials, real deals, and earn A+ School Rewards and Gas Reward points. Use manufacturer coupons for additional savings!

I got a chance to try out Peapod’s new pick up service recently at the Stop & Shop in Quincy along with a few other local bloggers, so I can tell you based on my experience – it was pretty awesome to be able to have my items ready and waiting for me.  I sat down a few days before I wanted to pickup my groceries to place my order on Peapod.com and once all my items were added to my cart, I went through the checkout process, selected my date & time that I wanted to pick up and boom – I was done.

peapod pickup quincy

I think what I love the most about the pickup service is that I can shop for my groceries whenever and where ever I want.  All I need is internet access and I can sign into the site & place my order.  I am all for anything that makes my life a little easier! Continue reading »

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Pier 1 Imports. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating.

I love shopping and I love a good summer cookout, so when the folks at Pier 1 sent me on a little shopping spree to pick out some new gear for a summer oasis party, I was thrilled.  I have been shopping at Pier 1 for years, but it’s always nice to be able to get some new things, right?

A few weeks ago, I spent about two hours in the store picking out what I wanted.  I wish I could have gotten one of everything!

Shopping at Pier 1 #Pier1OutdoorParty #Sponsored #MC.

I was finally able to decide on the things I wanted & started planning my party.   We host lots of cookouts over the course of the summer and we decided that an outdoor oasis cookout over the  long Memorial Day weekend to kick off summer would be the perfect excuse to have some people over. Sometimes I get frustrated when I look at certain areas of my house because I feel like they are just so plain and boring.  This is one of them:

Yup, that is my dining room.  It’s attached to my kitchen and combined, those two room are the main hub of my house.  I look at the plain old table every single day and I have been saying for years that it was in some serious need of help.

I bought my house in 2002 and these are the things that I purchased to “decorate” my table way back when I moved in: Continue reading »

Have you ever bought a package of underwear for your kids and when you actually touched the underwear it felt scratchy?  Ok, so it’s not just me – phew.  I always found that it was especially the case when I purchased character undies for my boys.  If there is one thing I’ve learned over the years of being a mom it’s that uncomfortable kids are cranky kids, so imagine how excited I was when I heard about Lucky & Me.  They are a line of children’s underwear that is made from a luxurious fabric that’s super-soft, smooth to the touch and free of harmful chemicals!  How awesome does that sound, right?

The amazing folks over at Lucky & Me sent over some things for my boys to try out and I couldn’t wait to see what they thought.  Each of them received their own Logan Boys’ Classic Tee Shirt (2-Pack) and one pair of Grayson Boys’ Boxer Briefs each.

They were so excited about their new duds and put on their undershirts right away. Continue reading »

If you’ve ever had a newborn, then you are all too familiar with late night feedings and sleepless nights.  If you’re a mom – you likely took on the majority of those duties while your partner somehow managed to sleep through them.  In the thick of all those sleepless nights, did you ever wonder how your loved one managed to sleep like a log? Or did you think maybe he was just pretending?  If it’s the latter… you’re not alone.

According to the 2014 Chicco Late Night Feeding Survey, forty-four percent of parents suspect their partners have pretended to be asleep to avoid late night feedings.  The truth? More than one-third of dads surveyed (38%) admit they have actually done so, but only 28 percent of moms say the same.

To celebrate the launch of Chicco’s NaturalFit Advanced Feeding & Soothing System, which is designed to simplify bottle feeding for parents and their newborns, Chicco USA polled new moms and dads to get the inside scoop on what goes on during the wee hours of feeding-filled sleepless nights.

The NaturalFit™ Advanced Feeding System grows with your baby2

Whether it’s caused by a work deadline, chaotic day with the kids, or visit from the in-laws, stress stinks… literally! Out of the three causes of sweat—heat, activity, and stress—stress sweat has been proven to smell the worst.

Luckily, Secret® Clinical Strength has got you covered when stress strikes. Moisture activated, and formulated with odor-neutralizing ingredients that release a fresh scent, Secret Clinical Strength is proven to give you 4X* the protection against stress sweat. Visit www.nostresssweat.com for the scoop on stress sweat!

I wish I could say that I live a stress-free life, but the fact of the matter is – I am always running around like a chicken with my head cut off and it is stressful.  I am not usually one to sweat when I get stressed out, but I wanted to give Secret Clinical Strength a go to see how it held up on one of my most stressful days.  You know the day I am talking about – the one where I had to squeeze in soccer practice for one of my boys, karate class for the other one, two birthday parties and a family dinner.  All in one day!  Phew.

So, I headed over to my local Walmart to pick some up!  I grabbed the invisible solid!

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Lionsgate. I received promotional item and a prize pack as a thank you for my participation.”

On March 14th, Lionsgate releases The Single Moms Club, a story of five struggling single Moms who put aside their differences in the midst of a school dilemma with their kids to form a support group. I have to tell you, I am really excited about this movie.

Have a look at the movie trailer to see what all the buzz is about:

Throughout their journey, the five women find inspiration and laughter in their new sisterhood and help each other overcome the obstacles that stand in their way. When my oldest son was two,  I saw an ad for a local MOMS Club that met right in my town.  I was super excited and contacted them right away to find out how I could join.  At the time, either my friends had not starting having children yet or their kids were much older and could not relate to toddlers anymore.  My sister & brother are younger than I am, so they hadn’t started having kids yet and I basically had no one to go to for support. Being a part of a support group like that was such a help to me at the time and not only did I connect with other moms in my community, I made a couple of life long friends.  Plus, I love that our kids are all in school together now that they are a bit older, so I still get to see the moms – just in a different capacity.
