The Best Margarita Recipe

When Robin asked me to share a post with you guys, this recipe came to mind because I’d love to mix up a batch of these tasty margaritas and talk kids, blogs, and life with her. She is so funny, down-to-earth and tells it like it is. But you already knew that. J

I received this recipe with two pretty margarita glasses and some specialty salt for my birthday a few years ago. The recipe was from my Uncle’s girlfriend Linda, who got it from a bartender. This is the “secret” recipe used by a chain Mexican restaurant called the Border. The secret ingredient is the Lemate Sweet & Sour Mix. This is the best margarita recipe that I’ve found. This recipe is for one drink only and it’s a doosey (it contains lots of booze), so make sure you have a designated driver before you have one…..or four.

I know so many people that love pumpkin.  Pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cake, but how about a drink made with pumpkin?  Why not?  This recipe for pumpkin pie martinis is pretty easy to make and if you love the taste of pumpkin, trust me…you’re gonna love it.

Jell-o Shots

Watermelon Margarita Goodness

One day while I was watching What Would Brian Boitano Make on The Food Network, he made the most delicious looking Watermelon Margaritas.  I actually tried his recipe and it was good, but it was complicated.  I thought about it and came to the decision that I could make one even better.  And I did.  So, lucky for you – I am going to share the recipe with you! 

The first thing you need to do is cut up a medium sized watermelon and remove the seeds.  Once you have it all cut & and all the seeds are out – throw it into the blender (you should have approximately 5 cups of cut-up watermelon by the time you’re done) with a handful of ice, two or three shots of Grand Marnier (I eyeball it), one cup of tequila, two ounces of fresh lime juice, 1/4 cup of sugar and blend it all together.  The thing that makes this watermelon margarita different from many others is the Grand Marnier.  Yum.

It’s Gonna Be A Hot One Today – Why Not Cool Off With A Strawberry Martini?

I’ m back with another one of my famous cocktail recipes!  The Strawberry Martini – and yes, it’s as good as it sounds

The very first thing you need to do is chill your martini glasses.  I put them in the freezer for about 10 minutes and that usually does the trick.  Next, you need rim those glasses with sugar. Yes, you need to.  It totally makes the drink!   When I rim a glass for strawberry martinis, I slice a big, fat, juicy strawberry and rub it around the rim of the martini glass.  The rim should be very lightly coated with the juice from the strawberry. Then simply dip the glass in a bowl of sugar.  Easy Peasy.

I love wine.  Period.  I am the type of person that will have a glass when I want to sit down and relax after the kids are in bed.  I’ve tried all kinds of wine, and usually I’m not all that fussy when it comes to which brand I buy, but one thing is a must when I am at the packie making my wine selection (FYI – the packie is what we call the liquor store up here in MA).  The thing is that the bottle must be “pretty”.  I totally pick out my wine based on whether the bottle is cute or not, so when I recently came across Flipflop Wines, their bottles certainly lived up to my standards.

My Famous Sangria Recipe

With the summer quickly approaching, I figured what better time to talk about one of my favorite summertime beverages: Sangria!  In case you don’t know what sangria is, it’s a wine based punch with fresh fruit added and it’s the perfect beverage to serve at a cookout, picnic or summer party. It’s fruity and goes with everything!  I love, love, love sangria, which probably is a result of my love of wine, but I wanted to share my sangria recipe with you guys.  Every time I’ve made it, it’s been a huge hit!

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 bottle of red wine (I tend to use either a Sauvignon or Chardonnay, but if you have a preference, go for it.).  You can use white wine if you insist, but I don’t think it works as well as red wine.
  • 1 cup of fresh raspberries
  • 1 cup of fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup of fresh strawberries
  • 1/2 cup of white granulated sugar
  • 2 cups of pineapple juice
  • 2 cups of gingerale

Then mix it all up in a pitcher and let it sit for at least 2-3 hours in the fridge before you serve it.  Once you’re ready to serve it,  add a few ice cubes into the pitcher and enjoy! 

The beauty of sangria is that you can add any fruits you like.  I’ve added lemon or orange slices in the past & they both worked well in the recipe!

**This recipe is very easily doubled or tripled, so you might want to use a punch bowl if you’re making more!
