My husband, Christian, and I got recently invited to check out a new show in Boston called “BABEL: An Evening of Mind Reading”. Sounds cool, right? Well, it was cool. Actually, it was totally mind blowing. We love it when we watch America’s Got Talent and a mentalist comes on and it always ends the same way with the two of us: when the trick is over, we look at each other and say in unison, “how the h-e-double hockey sticks did they do that??”
BABEL is a 90-minute intimate evening of mind-reading with Boston’s premiere mentalist, Christopher Grace, at The Bostonian Boston in the financial district and we went to BABEL’s debut show last Friday. It’s a performance designed for sophisticated adults looking for a different type of entertainment and Christopher delivered on his promise.
Christopher completely confounded the entire audience on Friday with his seemingly impossible mind-reading abilities, acts of super memory, and actually entertaining rapid fire math skills. He was inside all of our heads and kept up laughing the whole time.
Since the audience is limited to just 52 guests, everyone got a close-up seat and was able to truly experience what Christopher was doing. In fact, many audience members were invited to take part in the show including both my husband and myself. In fact, I would say that at least half of the people there were participants in the show.
Christopher Grace has over 20 years of experience as a mind reader and has performed in eighteen different countries from Singapore and China to England and Australia. Having performed for Fortune 500 companies such as Google, GE and Comcast, and for prominent audiences that have included Steve Jobs, Johnny Depp and Steve Martin, Christopher Grace is a high-demand mind reader and entertainer across the country.
“Babel” made its debut on Friday, Feb. 2, but there are additional performances on Friday, Feb. 16 and Friday, March 2, with show times of 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. each date. The shows will be held at The Bostonian Boston, located at 26 North Street, Boston, MA 02109. Dress code is strictly enforced with suits and ties for gentlemen and cocktail attire for women. Tickets, which are limited to 52 guests per performance, are available and can be purchased by visiting www.thebabelshow.com.
It is important to know that this is not a typical magic show. In fact, it’s not a magic show at all – but it is totally mind blowing! The performance is a sophisticated, fun night out for adults. My husband and I loved it and are hoping to catch another one of his performances again soon.
