If you are a regular around here, you probably already know that my nine year old takes karate. My little man did it for about six months, but it’s just not his thing, so he’s on hiatus right now. My nine year old, though, found his calling and is thriving at the sport.
A couple of weeks ago he tested for his next belt: brown.
Here are a couple of action shots from the actual belt test, which was done in class.
The students had to do their form correctly with power and enthusiasm to pass the test. My guy passed and here he is getting a stripe on his green belt to signify that he was advancing.
A few days after everyone has completed their belt testing (they run the testing over a few days to make sure everyone has a chance to make it to class), they held a ceremony at the dojo in which all students that were advancing got presented with their new belts.
Here’s my guy:
I could not be anymore proud of my guy than I am. Before I know it, he’ll be a black belt!
