Stormalong Bay is arguably the best pool at Walt Disney world. Located at the Yacht & Beach Club, it's a mini water park and a great break from the parks.

My family loves our trips to Disney World and we really enjoy experiencing all of the resorts on Walt Disney World property.  One of the things that Disney does really well are the pool areas at the resorts.  We’ve stayed at several and have never been disappointed with the pool areas. While the pool at Caribbean Beach was our favorite for quite a while, we recently stayed at the Yacht Club and had a chance to experience Stormalong Bay – and now we have a new favorite. We were beyond impressed by the Stormalong Bay pool “complex” and it’s without a doubt the best pool at any of the resorts on the Disney property.

Here are tips to using Disney's Fastpass+. The Fastpass+ helps cut your wait time for attractions so you can make the most of your day at the parks.

Walt Disney World has been using the Fastpass+ system for a while now. It has made things a lot easier because it allows you to book in advance and save time. Below I will share what exactly the Fastpass+ is and some tips to using the Fastpass+ for you and your family!

Below you will find learn about Fastpass+ and the perks, and find ways to make sure you make the most out of the system! The tips below can help you with your schedule, so you can make sure to utilize each pass the best way possible.

Here are tips to using Disney's Fastpass+. The Fastpass+ helps cut your wait time for attractions so you can make the most of your day at the parks.

What is Disney’s Fastpass+
Fastpass+ is a system that Disney uses that allows you to reserve rides and attractions to reduce the time you spend waiting in lines both for rides and experiences such as character meet & greets or shows. They allow up to three Fastpasses per day to make the system fair, but there are a few restrictions. You can only make Fastpass+ choices for one park per day, so if you are visiting multiple parks, make sure to choose which park you want to use the Fastpasses on. Also, you can only book a Fastpass for each ride once per day, so if you love Space Mountain and want to book all three of your Fastpasses for three separate rides on the day you are at the Magic Kingdom – you are out of luck. The system won’t let you “repeat” rides on the same day. As of now you can book Fastpass+ for your whole trip 60 days in advance if you stay on property, or 30 days if you are not staying on property. Continue reading »

The Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves in Woodstock, NH is an adventure that you and your family will never forget. Hike, climb and explore all day long!

Long before recorded history, massive glaciers shaped the land in North America. The powerful forces of water, wind, and time created the Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves in Kinsman Notch (Woodstock, NH) about 300 million years ago. The Ice Age brought glaciers that lifted and moved enormous rocks, which formed notches and mountains. When the ice eventually melted, the water eroded the rocks and the Lost River Gorge was formed. If you happen to visit the Woodstock, NH area, be sure to check out the Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves.

I love summer, I really do. I love the warm weather, the beach, the relaxed schedule – all of it.  But do you know what I love more than summer? FALL. How can you beat pumpkin flavored everything, chunky sweaters,  hayrides and corn mazes?  And speaking of corn mazes, did you know that the very first corn maze is now open in Methuen?

In a city nearly four hundred years old – troubled with war, murderers, strife and the occasional bout of stray molasses, it is hardly any wonder that Boston remains one of the most haunted cities in America and stories of the glory days of Colonial Boston only scratch the surface of Boston’s darker side. Boston has found itself plagued with some of history’s most nefarious figures – The Boston Strangler, Jolly Jane, Dr. John Webster, Cotton Mather, amongst a slew of other assorted characters. If you want to hear all about Boston’s dark history, the Ghost & Gravestones Tour is the place to hear about all of it.

Explore Boston’s most chilling murder sites, haunted places and spend time with the dead on the Ghosts & Gravestones tour.

I took this fun trolley tour in Boston a few years ago with my husband, but I recently had a chance to take it again with him, my sister and brother in law. Our tour guide was Ashton Burns and we really enjoyed the stories that he told us. Ashton was not only just great a storyteller, but he was also well-informed and ready to answer any questions asked of him. There were a few tours out that night and all of the guides are dressed up AND in character! As I mentioned, Ashton was our guide and sadly, all of the pictures I took of him came out blurry, but he was great and really authentic. The other guide out that night was Betty and our group met up with their group in one of the cemeteries we visited. Continue reading »

It is no secret that I am a proud Bostonian. I have lived in the area all my life and love being from this part of the country.  There is so much to see and do in Boston and sometimes I like to pay tourist in my own city. When I want to see the sights in Boston, I take the Boston Old Town Trolley Tour in Boston.

If you're planning on visiting Boston, spend a day on the Boston Old Town Trolley Tour. It's hop on/hop off and brings you to over 100 Boston attractions.

The Hop On Hop Off Boston Tour covers all the major areas of the city including Downtown, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, the Theater District, and the Waterfront District. On the trolley, the fun conductors narrate the tour with a fun mix of trivia and humorous stories. My husband and I took the trolley tour on a rainy day a couple of weeks back. Since we’re local, we decided to stay on for the whole tour and I am so glad we did. Lucia was our tour guide/driver and she was wonderful.  She is a life-long Bostonian and she was full of stories and trivia about Boston. Continue reading »

My boys were both really excited to spend the day at Davis Farmland – especially once I told them there was a splash park there.  It was a hot day in July and they were happy about there being a way to cool off. We actually brought cousin Jonah, who was visiting with his dad, Uncle Keith, from San Diego with us for the day.  All three of the boys had a blast exploring everything at Davis Farmland. New London is an up and coming town in coastal Connecticut. I’ve driven through it a million times, but never got off the highway to explore all that it had to offer – until recently.  My husband and I spent a weekend in the area and were super impressed by all the great food we ate in New London.  There are lots of great places to eat in New London, but here are some of the places we loved eating at and highly recommend checking out:

Have Breakfast at Breakfast at Muddy Waters

Whether you want a cup of strong locally roasted coffee, a chai latte, or a hearty breakfast of oatmeal and a banana, Muddy Waters makes sure you start your morning off right. Pick up a paper or catch the local gossip. Baristas whip up a full menu of coffee beverages while you drool over the pastries and cookies in the display cases. Lunch offerings include sandwiches, grinders, tomato soup, and the famous “Love and Lust” salads. Enjoy the deck overlooking the river or relax in Muddy Waters’ comfortable, eclectically furnished interior. Continue reading »

Water Wizz (Wareham, MA): Southern New England’s largest water park! Mussel Beach is a huge wave pool that is very popular. Daffodils at Heritage Museums and Gardens in Sandwich

If you’re heading to Cape Cod and you’re looking for a great way to spend the day, you should definitely consider visiting Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich. I spent a good part of my childhood in Sandwich because my aunt and uncle used to rent a beach cottage on North Shore Blvd from a friend of theirs every summer. I fondly remember visiting the Heritage Plantation (what it was called back then) with my grandmother and aunt. These days it’s called the Heritage Museums & Gardens and it’s just as wonderful as I remember it being when I was younger.

More than 100,000 people visit the Heritage Museums & Gardens annually to spend time in the three gallery buildings that house special and permanent exhibitions, peruse the gardens, play in Hidden Hollow and more.  There is so much to see and do at the Heritage Museums & Gardens and it is safe to say that is something for everyone there. The Mount Washington Valley area of New Hampshire is one of my favorite parts of the state to visit. Made up of eight villages, it is almost like taking a step back in time when you visit the area.  In the heart of Mt. Washington Valley, you’ll undoubtedly end up in North Conway and once you visit, you will definitely want to stay. Cathedral Ledge Resort is located in North Conway, New Hampshire, is just a little over two hours from Boston and if you’re looking for a place to stay in the area – this is it.

There are a couple of options when staying at Cathedral Ledge Resort. You can choose to rent a Bungalow or a Townhouse. My family stayed in a townhouse, but I am going to tell you about both of your options – so that way if you are planning on booking a stay there, you can choose what’s right for your family.

Bungalow: Lovely out of the way cottages sleep six with private driveway, two bedrooms each with private bath & Jacuzzi, plus 1/2 bath in case you have kids set up on the pull-out couch overnight. Full kitchen, washer/dryer, outdoor grill and patio set. Have all the amenities, just a little more quiet. Continue reading »

My family recently stayed in the North Conway, New Hampshire area and going snow tubing was high up on our list of things we wanted to do while we were there. We’re not big skiers, but we definitely wanted to make some time to play in the snow.  That’s why we all love snow tubing: tubing is a family friendly activity that requires no special skills or equipment. My family almost always stays close to home during the February vacation.  I would be devastated if any travel plans we made got disrupted because of snow, so we definitely prefer staycations. My family and I recently got to experience a stay at the Element Boston Seaport and it’s the perfect location for a Boston staycation. It’s located right in the heart of Boston’s thriving Seaport District and there are tons of family-friendly attractions within walking distance of the hotel. As far as I am concerned that is a big selling point when I am looking for a place to stay with my family.

The Element Boston Seaport was built to be green from the ground up, guestrooms are spacious, stylish, sustainable and designed for comfort, providing guests with space to live their life while away from home.
