Oktoberfest, the yearly German fall festival that draws in more than six million people, celebrates everyone’s favorite things: food, beer, and merrymaking. Although the official Oktoberfest celebration takes place in Munich, Bavaria, there are Oktoberfest celebrations held all over the world. Foxwoods® Resort Casino, the Northeast’s premier resort destination, is joining the party with month-long food and beverage offerings through October 31st.
Disclosure: I was invited to attend a wonderful Oktoberfest themed press event at Foxwoods® Resort Casino, but as always, all opinions expressed here are strictly my own and were not influenced in any way.
Approximately a dozen bloggers and their plus ones met at Cedars Lounge, where we all started our evening with Oktoberfest beer tasting and social.
The bloggers invited were from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. I loved that I got a chance to meet some new people and catch up with some old friends while I was at the event (That’s Sarah from Sweet Lil You and her husband Dave that Chris and I are talking to).
Once everyone had arrived, we were treated to some authentic German pretzels served with the most amazing spicy mustard and lots & lots of beer.
Among the beers that we tried were:
- Hanssens: Oude Gueuze (Belgium)
- Kasteel: Rouge (Belgium)
- Aecht Schlenkerla: Marzen Rauchbier (Germany)
- La Trappe: Quad (The Netherlands)
- Schloss Eggenberg: Samichlaus (Austria)
I really liked a few of the beers that I tried, especially the Kasteel: Rouge. There were a few that I wasn’t as crazy about, too, but that’s ok – at least I tried them all.
Our next stop of the event was High Rollers Luxury Lanes & Lounge. High Rollers has an old school Vegas vibe with lots of modern technology sprinkled in.
High Rollers has 20 PBA approved lanes which includes 6 VIP lanes. All six VIP lanes have full food and beverage service, plush seating areas at the top and big screen TVs at the end of each lane.
We were separated into three groups spread across three VIP lanes and had a blast bowling with each other.
Our final stop of the evening was an Oktoberfest-themed dinner at Cedars Lounge, where we had the opportunity to try some of the restaurant’s exclusive Oktoberfest-themed menu items.
Our first Course was Char-Grilled Bratwurst, which was served with German potato salad and whole grain mustard.
Next up was the main course, Kasseler Ruppchen: Smoked Pork Loin, which was served with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes.
Dessert was the most amazing apple strudel.
Chris and I had a great date night at Foxwoods® Resort Casino and we both truly had a blast celebrating Oktoberfest there.
The Oktoberfest fun at Foxwoods® Resort Casino isn’t over by any means! Oktoberfest happening are still going on for the rest of this week.
If you want to get your own taste of Oktoberfest, you can visit Cedars Lounge for your own true Bavarian dining experience or stop by Veranda Café. They are serving up Grilled Kielbasa with Peppers and Onions, and Braised Red Cabbage every day through the end of October.
High Rollers, Red Lantern and Scorpion Bar every week during the month of October for a variety of featured Oktoberfest Food and Drink specials and contests.
