Year after year, there are certain restaurants at Disney World that we always end up eating at. Chef Mickey’s is one of them. Normally, we go there for their breakfast buffet, but this year I couldn’t get breakfast reservations (it fills up quick), so we went for their dinner buffet.
I’ve now dined at Chef Mickey’s a total of six times and I would be fine if I never ate there again, but it’s character dining, so the boys still love to eat there. The characters – Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, and Minnie, come around to the tables as you’re eating for a quick visit, to sign autographs and take pictures.
Being there for dinner was something different for us. The last four years we’ve eaten breakfast there. Honestly, I like the breakfast better, so I’ll be sure to book early for our next trip in August. FYI – I made these dinner reservations about three months in advance.
Anyways, like I mentioned above, this is a buffet style restaurant, which means you can eat as much as you can fit in. There was so much food including a salad bar, soup du jour, broccoli with cheese sauce, Mickey cheese ravioli, chicken florentine with tortellini and Italian sausage, carved ham, prime rib, parmesan mashed potatoes and SO much more. For the kids they had things like Chef Mickey’s macaroni and cheese, Goofy’s cheese pizza and chicken tenders.
For dessert there is a sundae (soft served) bar and lots of amazing desserts like rice krispy treats, chocolate covered oreos and cheesecake.
Here are the boys with all the characters:
If you’re going to Disney World and looking for a character meal (and if you’re going with kids, you should be going to at least one character meal), Chef Mickey’s is one of my favorites – and I’ve done a lot of character dining over the years. Chef Mickey’s is located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which is next to the Magic Kingdom.
