On Sunday night, Chris & I took the boys on a Christmas light scavenger hunt. I found it online and thought the boys would get a kick out of it – and they did.
You’re probably thinking to yourself “Hey, aren’t you in Massachusetts? People don’t say y’all up there”. Well, you’re right. We knew right off the bat that we were going to have trouble with that one and the cowboy Santa. The Ya’ll sign was going to be completely impossible and we had very low expectations of finding a cowboy Santa, but we figured we would give it a shot.
The four of us met up with my parents for dinner that night, so we went on the hunt right from the restaurant. The boys were so excited to get started.
When we left the restaurant, we drove right into a neighborhood that was all done up in style. We ended up crossing about 75% off the thing on our list off in that area – and we were only driving around for about three minutes when we came to it.
They had these cute M&M’s, too. None of us had ever seen those.
After we drove out of that neighborhood, we still had 6 or 7 things to find, so off we went. We drove around for close to an hour and did the best we could.
We came across a “Merry Christmas to All” sign and unanimously decided that it was as close to “Merry Christmas Y’all” as we were ever gonna get.
We never did find that pesky cowboy Santa, though. We drove past a construction worker Santa who was driving a bulldozer and decided that it was as close as we were going to get. Ironically, I ended up posting a the picture of the list on my Facebook page and someone fairly local commented that she had a cowboy Santa in her yard – but we were already home at that point.
It was something different to do and it turned out to be one of the boys favorite things we did this year.
