Dining at Disney World - Fun Without Characters

Disney World is a magnificent place to visit with your family. There are many things for the entire family to enjoy, including exhilarating rides and delicious dining. Many visitors choose to make Disney a family tradition year after year (like my family does), and even then, it can be hard to explore all of the wonderful options Disney has to offer. If you’re going to visit Disney this year, you should take some time to appreciate many of the unique experiences offered, especially when it comes to dining options. For a unique experience, try dining at these fun Disney restaurants that don’t include the traditional Disney characters.

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant

Looking for an interesting and unique dining experience? You’ll need to head to the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant if you’re spending some time over at Hollywood Studios. This fun restaurant has memorable booths shaped like classic ‘50s cars. This décor gives you the feeling that you’re actually experiencing a drive-in theater. The dining experience is made complete with tasty food and fun movie clips. If you have boys, they are going to love this part of Disney, I promise!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant

50’s Prime Time Café

If you want to dine on delicious food during your Disney stay, try the 50’s Prime Time Café. This café is styled after the 50s, an era where family and good food are revered. You’ll love the classic décor, including black and white tiles and an old box television. In addition to the great atmosphere, you’ll be served class American food by the staff who treats you just like family.

Teppan Edo

Disney World isn’t just about American food. If you’d like to taste something more exotic, make reservations at Teppan Edo.  This restaurant features delicious Japanese dishes, all cooked right there at your table! You’ll enjoy watching your food being prepared as the Teppan chefs put on a memorable show that will complete your vacationing experience. My mouth is watering just thinking about going back to this delicious restaurant.

T-Rex Cafe

Do your children love all things dinosaur? Step back in time and dine at the T-Rex Café. This restaurant has realistic prehistoric décor, including creatures and dinosaurs from the time period! If you’re lucky, you might even be able to spot a meteor shower while dining on delicious dishes. In addition to fun dining in a dino-riffic atmosphere, you can also get a little shopping and exploring done at the T-Rex Café, making this a must-see for any Disney trip.

The Rainforest Cafe

For many American families, the Rainforest Café has become a staple dining establishment wherever you travel. If you’re visiting Disney World, you’ll need to make sure you have time to dine at the local Rainforest Café. You’ll get to experience a jungle décor, reminiscent of the wild rainforests of the world. Different creatures and birds are hidden throughout the restaurant, making it an adventure for your children as they explore the restaurant.

Whispering Canyon Cafe

If your children love having fun (we all know mine do), feel free to take them to the Whispering Canyon Café. This rowdy restaurant follows an Old West theme, with interesting western décor. The staff members love getting into character, providing tons of entertainment for both your children and yourself. You’ll also get to experience western culture with delicious frontier fare, complete with tasty desserts. This restaurant does take walk-ins, but reservations are definitely recommended. If you already know you’ll be heading to Disney this year, call ahead and make sure you reserve a table at this popular restaurant.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is another Disney favorite anytime you’re in town. This country-themed musical restaurant offers live entertainment and delicious country dishes. The atmosphere for this restaurant is so realistic, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a real-life hoedown. There are different seating options available for this restaurant, so you can choose the best seat in the house any night of the week!

Disney is definitely a magical place to visit. Give your tongue a taste of this magic by dining at these delicious, Disney character-free restaurants during your stay!
