We are regulars at Disney World.  By that, I mean we take the kids there annually.  The four of us love all things Disney, but one of my favorite things personally is that there is absolutely no need to rent a car while we’re down there.  How great is that?

When we land at Orlando International Airport (MCO), Disney’s Magical Express is there waiting to take us to our resort.   The Magical Express is complimentary round-trip airport transportation and luggage delivery for guests who are staying at Disney resorts   One we landed, we just headed over to Disney’s Magical Express Welcome Center, which is located in the Main Terminal Building, B side, Level 1.  The best part is that with the Magical Express service, you can skip the baggage claim because the Disney folks grab your bags for you and deliver them right to your room within a few hours.  Sweet!

Of course, my favorite part of the 25 minute ride from the airport to the Disney property is seeing this:

Once we were all settled into our room (we stayed at Caribbean Beach – Jamaica), we needed to be able to get to our destination.  We took an early flight the morning we left, so we did what we normally do – head to Downtown Disney for our first day.  When you stay in Disney World, each resort has numerous bus stops where you can catch a bus to wherever you want to go:  the four parks, the water parks or Downtown Disney.

Here is the gruesome twosome at our bus stop:

And don’t worry – if you just miss your bus (and it’s happened to us multiple times), another one usually comes along within about 20 minutes. Sometimes they’re crowded and sometimes they’re not, but either way, the buses are always air conditioned and will get you where you need to go!

Depending on where you stay or want to go, there are ferries to get you there and the monorail runs between the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and a few resorts near the Magic Kingdom.

It’s a really hassle free way to travel.

  1. The transportation takes away so many stresses

  2. That’s great that they provide that transportation service! It saves money on car rental costs.

  3. Thank you for sharing this and will totally keep this in mind when we do go!! 🙂

  4. I love that transportation set up too and it makes Disney a top consideration when thinking of a short trip. I like not having to rent a car.

  5. i love it!! i’m going in feb so i could look at park pics all day long. ellesees.blogspot.com

  6. sorry – I’m thinking the opposite, if I ever go back I would rent a car. The bus was so crowded and you wait forever for it sometimes – lol

except I would make my husband do all the driving so he may just like not worrying about anything either – ha-ha

    🙂

  7. I always wanted to take the magical express but with my dad we have to rent a handicrap car. It is just to hard to get him on and off the buses there because if there is already a wheel chair or a scooter on the bus you have to wait for another. Plus he goes to the hotel every afternoon for a nap and taking 20 mins to drive him there and get back to the kids is much easier on us. However like I said I always wanted to take the magical express 🙁

  8. I have not been to th one in Orlando. I am sure that sign must feel as magical as it seemed to me and my kids.:)
Even though we went to Paris Disney.

  9. Oh, that is fabulous. We haven’t ever stayed at a hotel at Disneyland. I should look into that next time. We haven’t since 08. Boo it is time to go, again!!! Your family is so DANG cute! Yes, my hot pink jeans are just the right tone of hot pink, huh? After Monday’s post I’m not posting them for a while. They are a bit obnoxious lately. LOL

  10. Those buses were fabulous when we went! Though we did rent a car because we planned on doing Universal too. But we did use the buses for 3 days and loved them!

  11. I heard about the transportation from the airport to Disney and I thought that was the coolest thing. I’m always planning our trip to Disney. I’m sure we’ll get there in another 10 years or so, lol.

  12. I agree – they have the transportation down. Only they won’t take you to Universal! We paid a pretty penny for a taxi.

  13. YOu must have really enjoyed it

  14. I love all your tips for different places. It’s great that you don’t need to rent a car and can get around. I don’t like driving in unfamiliar places.

  15. It’s so awesome that this is available! Makes traveling so much easier. I’m sure they’ve been able to make it nearly perfect after all the visitors over the years.

  16. The transportation in Disney is awesome! I lve the Carribean too.

  17. Yup. I fondly remember the bus that we would pick up in the Wilderness Campground. It’s so convenient to get around Disney via bus. We were able to take the ferry to the magic kingdom too. Good times!! 🙂

  18. I have never been to Disney World and have only been to Disney Land once and that was with my dad for his 60th birthday, so I haven’t had to go with kids 🙂 My dad insisted on walking everywhere even though there were shuttles and it was the middle of a nasty heat wave so it was over 100. I love my father, but the buses would have been so much easier!

  19. Good to know! We have never been to Disney, one day though, one day.

  20. I haven’t been to disney since I was a kid, so I had no idea they offered all this free transportation down there. Good to know.

  21. Those buses kind of look like the Jitneys we ride when we go to Atlantic City. Not really comfortable. You sound like you know your way around really well. You could be a tour guide.

  22. I think that is really good you can get transportation save’s having to rent a car and try to park it i suppose,we are hoping to go sometime soon, when we have time 🙂

  23. Oooh Landon would love the monorail! Love how they have such a good transportation system in place!

  24. Great tip. We were just there in March!

  25. Unless I move far away I will probably never get to ride the Magical Express. I LOVE Disney. I just got my Annual Pass last week and went to the Halloween party and again a few days later. I was disappointed in the transportation this past Wednesday. Since I am local we drive (it is about a 2 hours drive or less). We parked at the Magic Kingdom. Spent 1/2 the day there and then decided to go to Hollywood Studios. We decided rather than drive to take the bus because we thought we would come back and watch Wishes after Fantasmic. Big mistake! We will drive when we park hop like that. Tons of busses were picking up resort guests, but no buses were coming to the ticket/transportation center bus stop. I think we waited 30 minutes and 1 bus came, but I didn’t make it on the first bus. The second bus came about 10 mins. later and we pulled into the TTC during the fireworks. By the time we would of taken the ferry or monorail over Wishes would have been over. I have heard tons of great things about the Magical Express though. I have heard lots about the welcome movie in my Disney fan facebook groups. I wish I could see it. Someday I hope to have enough money to stay in a deluxe monorail resort for a few days, plus in about 2-3 years I will be moving to the Orlando area. . DISNEY is my HOME 🙂 Sorry I babbled on. I LOVE Disney….hence my Disney blog 🙂

  26. We have just been to Disney Land this Summer and I loved that they had transportation! Their buses come regularly and you can sit back and relax while getting excited for what is about to happen – The happiest place on earth 🙂

  27. Your pictures are phenomenal. I look forward to reading more and following your blog. Great post!

  28. I love your adorable pictures! I didn’t realize that Disney has transportation that will take you there from the airport; that’s a great service I will have to keep in mind. I only went once as a kid and don’t remember it all that much, so once I have children, I want to take them a few times so they can experience all it has to offer. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your experiences!

  29. I love riding the monorail. I used to do it just for fun!

  30. Wow! Looks like you guys had a blast in your Disney visit! That is one place I wish I could take my kids someday.

  31. That is awesome!! I have been to Disneyland but never Disney World. Even though my kids are grown, I still want to go!!

  32. It’s the one thing I love about Disney World as well. I always spend the last day at Downtown Disney doing my last minute shopping for gifts. Can’t wait to take Madison for her very first trip.

  33. That’s just way too convenient and easy 🙂

  34. I love this kind of transportation. So much easier than trying to drive!

  35. I’ve always wanted to go there, i mean it’s every kids dream. You really had a fun day!

  36. i have never been to disney (neither have my kiddos). Perhaps some day!

  37. Never been to Disney, but are planning to maybe next year. Thanks for the information about bus transportation. Will look into it when the time comes…

  38. That’s great that they have transportation like this available. I wish I could go to Disney World as often as you do! 🙂

  39. I’ve only been to Disney once as an adult (honeymoon) and we tried to save money by staying off site. This looks so much more convenient – especially with kids!

  40. It’s good to see that transportation is so convenient at Disney. This certainly takes the guesswork out of getting around and is especially helpful with the kids.

  41. Cute photos and I love that Disney has buses. Great stress relief and a chance to sit down and relax but to keep seeing things as well. I’d love to go, maybe one day.

  42. This is like the main reason I want to stay at a Disney property when we go. I do not want to have to deal with car rentals and parking.

  43. We love the Disney Transportation… and it makes it so easy to hop from park to park or downtown disney.. just love it and we don’t have to worry about traffic or being stressed out looking for parking

  44. Looks like so much fun! And not having to worry about getting there and back makes everything that much more fun.

  45. They really think of every detail, don’t they?!
