I don’t know about you, but I have been hearing buzz about Gatorland in Orlando for years. It’s one of those attractions that I have had on my bucket list for a long, long time and recently I was able to cross it off. We had some time between checking out of one resort before we could check into the next, so I figured it was the perfect time to head over to the the Alligator Capital of the World!
Sure, you go to Gatorland to see the gators, but in addition to thousands (literally) of alligators, Gatorland has much more to offer. Gatorland boasts the largest collection of extremely rare white leucistic alligators, a free-flight aviary, petting zoo, one-of-a-kind animal shows, thrilling Screamin’ Gator Zip Line and their new Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure! Your day at Gatorland will be full of fun and memory making!
Shows included in the Gatorland admission price:
Gator Wrestlin’ Show
Gator wranglers catch a 6 to 8-foot alligator by hand, climb onto its back and point out interesting survival features.
Gator Jumparoo Show
Thrills and chills abound as some of the largest alligators in the world jump four feet or more out of the water in this one-of-a-kind show.
Up Close Encounters
You never know what kind of animal you might meet next at the Up-Close Encounters Show! You will see fascinating creatures from around the globe, including some of the most dangerous snakes alive!
Showtimes for their animal shows are repeated several times daily and may vary slightly by season. Information about their shows and showtimes can be found on the Gatorland Shows page or by calling 1-800-393-JAWS (5297).
Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure ride
Gatorland guests can now board one of three, 12-foot-high custom-made, off-road monster vehicles for a 15-minute rugged and hilarious adventure like no other theme park ride anywhere. This exciting ride is chocked full of wacky new Gatorland characters, singing tour guides, swampy adventure, and, of course, lots of alligators. Each vehicle is specially branded and named after iconic real alligators and crocodiles at Gatorland, including Bonecrusher ℠, Cannibal Jake, and Swamp Ghost ℠
My family and I went on this adventure while we were at Gatorland and it was FUNNNN! All 4 of us had an absolute blast on this 15 minute ride through the swamp!
Screamin’ Gator Zip Line
Fly over alligators and crocodiles at speeds near 30 miles per hour. Equipment (helmet and harness) provided!
For just $10 per person, you can step onto the sand at the world famous Gator Wrestlin’ Arena and feel the power of one of the most feared creatures in the world. Photos are not included in the price, but you can take your own.
My boys and Chris took a turn wrestling a gator while we were there. I would have done it, too, but I wanted to get pictures.
Junior Jumparoo Feeding Experience
Near the entrance to the park there you’ll come to the Junior Jumparoo Feeding Experience where you can purchase 3 small fish for $5 to feed to the gators. A staff member puts each fish on a fishing pole for you and then you can lower it into the pit of gators and watch them jump for it.
A little ways back in the park, there is a stand in which you can purchase Gator Chow (hot dogs) to feed the gators for $3. Those just get tossed in (gently) to the gators you want to feed – but be careful of the birds that hang out at the park because we saw a few of them scoop up the hot dogs and fly off with them.
Free-flight Very Merry Aviary:
I have an irrational fear of birds, so I stayed outside, but Jared, my oldest son, loved going inside the free-flight aviary. Inside, he was able to purchase a birdseed stick for $2 and the birds came right over to eat from the stick. A few even perched on his shoulder while he was standing there.
Gatorland Express Train Station
Take a leisurely ride around the park for just $2 per person.
Some of those add-on’s are included with The Grunt Package and you can save up to 20% by purchasing that instead of paying for single admission and then the add-on’s separately. Check it out:
The Grunt Package includes:
- Single-day admission to Gatorland.
- Rookie Wrestlin’ Experience where you get to step onto the sand at the world famous Gator Wrestlin’ Arena and feel the power of one of the most feared creatures in the world. A $10 value. (Photo not included).
- Unlimited train rides on the Gatorland Express train throughout the park. A $2 value.
- Gator Chow – Gatorland is the only safe place to feed an alligator, and you can too with our Gator Chow, included in the Gatorland Grunt Package. A $3 value.
If you get hungry while you’re at Gatorland, there are plenty of food options at the park. They even have Gator nuggets if you want to try eating something different – and NO, they don’t use their own gators. We tried them and all thought they tasted like chicken. If you’re planning a visit, take a look at your options and menus here.
After we got back from our 8 day trip to Orlando, I asked my kids what their favorite part of the trip was and they both said “Gatorland”. So there you have it.
