Near the entrance to the park there you’ll come to the Junior Jumparoo Feeding Experience where you can purchase 3 small fish for $5 to feed to the gators. A staff member puts each fish on a fishing pole for you and then you can lower it into the pit of gators and watch them jump for it.

Gator Chow
A little ways back in the park, there is a stand in which you can purchase Gator Chow (hot dogs) to feed the gators for $3. Those just get tossed in (gently) to the gators you want to feed – but be careful of the birds that hang out at the park because we saw a few of them scoop up the hot dogs and fly off with them.

Free-flight Very Merry Aviary:
I have an irrational fear of birds, so I stayed outside, but Jared, my oldest son, loved going inside the free-flight aviary. Inside, he was able to purchase a birdseed stick for $2 and the birds came right over to eat from the stick. A few even perched on his shoulder while he was standing there.

If you get hungry while you’re at Gatorland, there are plenty of food options at the park.  They even have Gator nuggets if you want to try eating something different – and NO, they don’t use their own gators. We tried them and all thought they tasted like chicken. If you’re planning a visit, take a look at your options and menus here.

  1. I haven’t been to Gatorland in years and didn’t realize there was so much to do! I can see why your kids enjoyed this place. I know my grandkids would love it. I’d love riding the train all over Gatorland.

  2. Gatorland is so much fun! We’ve been a couple of times, and we love it. Those gators are so powerful!

  3. I can’t wait to share this post with my husband and son because I know they would love visiting here if we ever make it out that way. If not I might see if I can find something like it here for them to visit.

  4. This would be a blast to go to! We’ll be in Orlando next month so I’ll see if we have time to do this. I know my kids would enjoy it. They love alligators. (When my daughter was tiny, she pronounced it “gay-gators.”)

  5. I have eaten gator before and it is very good. I would go and visit but not be really thrilled with all the gators, I would be standing way back in the back.

  6. I have seen it advertised over and over but never have been. I don’t trust the critters!! I love that your boys still wanted to go and wrestle the gators.

  7. We actually stopped at Gatorland on one of our Disneyworld road trips. It was surprisingly so much fun and very affordable. The kids had fun feeding the gators and although I was a bit nervous around them we still had a great time.

  8. Wrestling with the gators seems like a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’d try it at least once.

  9. My kiddo has always wanted to go to this place. It looks like it would be extremely fun place for all ages. When we get back down to Florida we are definitely going to make a stop here.

  10. I have to admit I’ve not heard of Gatorland before, but it looks like you had an awesome time and got to try out some things you would never be able to do elsewhere.

  11. We tried to visit Gatorland last year while we were in Orlando on vacation and just were never able to fit it into our schedule. I wish we would have been able to visit – it looks amazing! How lucky your kiddos got to touch a gator!

  12. Holy moly that looks scary! We actually went on a boat trip in the Amazon Riiver chasing for crocs and we found a few at night. But we never got as close as you guys did!

  13. How fun, we have Ostrich Farms here with similar experiences, you can even eat an Ostrich burger. Though you really can’t beat the rookie wrestling deal for $10!

  14. It’s awesome how much there is to do and see at Gatorland. The hands-on experience with the gators and birds sounds fun.

  15. As many times as I have been to Florida I have actually never been to Orlando! I would love to visit one day and I would have to hit up Gatorland!! It looks so cool!!

  16. I am sure my husband would love to visit Gatorland. He’d want to wrestle one. I would enjoy the aviary.

  18. I’ve never been to Gatorland. It looks like a place that the kiddos would love. I have to look into visiting the next time we’re in Orlando.

  19. Wow, Gatorland sounds awesome!! I bet my kids would enjoy this place too! I would be a little scared!!

  20. Ah Creepy and awesome at the same time. We saw some gators in Louisianna when we went on a swamp tour. That was fun. We got to throw marshmallows to them.

  21. Yikes! Add this to my list of places I will never visit. Like swimming with sharks. LOL

  22. I have never heard of Gatorland before this, which is surprising because I have family in the Orlando area. This looks like an exciting place to check out.

  23. I am so bummed out I didn’t go when we were in Orlando this summer! Another reason to road trip again!

  24. This isn’t something that I knew existed. Florida is the place we have visited the most and never made it to Gatorland.

  25. I am sure my kids would love to visit here! Looks so fun!

  26. The size of these alligators is fascinating, I would like to see this in person! When I saw gator chow I thought it was food like chicken chow mein, but with alligator meat 🙂 I think I need new glasses haha

  27. Talk about a wonderful experience for the kids! I just love that they’re able to interact and learn more about the gators. Looks like they had so much fun there too!

  28. I love going on nature environment but I doubt I could get near alligators lol. I am not that brave.

  29. I have always wanted to do this too! It looks like it was such an amazing time.

  30. What a place! I might try the rookie wrestling as well LOL ..and it looks so thrilling!
