Hear ye, hear ye!  It’s that time of year again.  For two months every fall, you can travel back in time at King Richard’s Faire in Carver, MA.  Spread out over 80 acres of woods, King Richard’s Faire is the place to be if you want to fully immerse yourself into a day in the life of someone back in the 1500’s.

**Disclosure:  My family and I received complimentary admission to King Richard’s Faire in order to tell you about our experience there.  All opinions are strictly my own and we not influenced in any way.

If you’ve never been to a renaissance festival, you’re missing out on a chance to travel back in time to the 16th century.  They make for a seriously good time.

King Richard’s Faire is very family friendly. There are many rides and performances throughout the day that are offered to entertain any and all age groups. From face painting to carnival rides to the beer garden, King Richard’s Faire does their best to keep everybody happy.  For my family, it’s the overall atmosphere that keeps us going back time and time again.  It’s a fun and light-hearted way to spend some quality time with your family.

New for 2016 there are several new acts including: Luminous Fire and Flow, a beautiful fire, acrobatic and hoop act; Trash and Treasure, a fabulous new show for the entire family which offers wonderful audience participation; Hopeless Romantics, a terrific and funny one-man show; the talented Royalty Sings and Dances show with new royalty visiting our enchanted village; and the young princesses will rush to see our enchanting new mermaid as she arrives from the oceans surrounding Carvershire.

Many favorites will be returning including: the bawdy Washing Well Wenches; talented high wire juggling antics from Squire of the Wire; magic and mayhem from The Wonder Show; high powered music from the Celtic group The American Rogues; beautiful aerial moves from Draiku; dangerous stunts from The Torture Show, the village whip master, Jacques Ze Whipper is back and we also have amazing acrobatic stunts and juggling from Daniel Duke of Danger; exotic animals from the Great Cats of the World show; life size puppets roam the village; watch out for flying mud and hilarious antics by the Sturdy Beggars™ Mud Show; daring sword play from the Mis-Adventurers; sweet sounding minstrels will roam Carvershire as will the magical fairies we call our Mystikals; and finally, the King’s brave knights will joust three times per day, with each joust more exciting than the next!

There are many talented artisans at the faire as well, so if you go – be sure to check out their goods because the majority of them are handmade and just plain awesome.

No outside food or drink is permitted into the faire, but there are plenty of food options available.  They even now offer gluten free, vegetarian & lactose free food options – just know that food is not covered in the admission prices, so it will cost you extra.

Faire hours are 10:30a-6p every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday holidays, from September 5th through October 23, 2016. Tickets are $31 for adults (12+) and $16 for children ages 4-11. Children under 4 are free, and parking is free.

The Faire is located at 235 Main Street (Rt. 58) in Carver, MA.

We had a great time at King Richard’s Faire last weekend and are hoping to squeeze in another visit before they close for the year next month.
