Despite all the hype over the past week, here in New England, hurricane Irene didn’t turn out to be much of anything – for the most of us. I think just about everyone lost power at some point in my area, and other than some downed trees, there didn’t seem to be too much damage. In my yard, we only got a few branches that fell off and to be honest, they’re not even worth taking time to pick ’em up.
My kids were with their dad, so my husband, Chris and I decided that since the storm had been downgraded to a tropical storm (and we’d lost power and were bored silly), we’d go out for a ride and see what kind of damage there was. We snapped some pictures in our travels and I wanted to share them with you:
This tree looks like it melted, huh? It was a huge tree and it literally just folded in half.
We came across this tree that had been completely uprooted & Chris snapped a picture from the passenger street. We noticed as we drove away, that there was another uprooted tree right behind it, but there were cars coming & I couldn’t pull over to get a picture.
We ended up at my parents house because she called me and told me that a tree had fallen in their yard – and of course, I had to go check it out. It was totally across the top of their driveaway & luckily it didn’t hit the house. Here’s what we found when we got there:
That yellow house is their next door neighbor’s house and apparently there was a lot more to this tree that blocked his driveaway, but he had already been there with a chainsaw before I got there.
Now the clean-up begins!
