Sep 222015

While school is in session, I have very little time to do what I want to do.  This year both of my boys are in different schools, each with different start and end times, so that has really thrown off my routine this year.  In addition to that, my little one plays soccer and my oldest needs to be at the dojo three or four times a week since he’s about to take his 3rd and final black belt test (it’s this Friday, so wish him luck and good skill).

While there are shows that I never, ever, ever miss like The Walking  Dead and The Blacklist, there are a whole slew of shows on my shelfie list.

What’s a shelfie you ask? We all have them – they’re the shows you’ve been wanting to watch but they’ve been sitting on the virtual shelf because…well, because like me, you’re a parent and who has the time?

There are many shows on my shelfie list, but today I am going to tell you my top three (in no particular order).

1. Scandal

A powerful team of Washington, D.C. lawyers makes scandals disappear while handling government crises and coping with problems of their own.

A friend of mine has been badgering me for a couple of years to watch this because she swears that it’s one of the best shows on television.  She keeps telling me how she is on the edge of her seat for the entire time she’s watching. It sounds like a perfect binge watching show to me and I’m sure when I do finally sit down to watch it, there were be some epic Scandal marathons.

2. Sons of Anarchy

This show is about the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club that operates both legal & illegal businesses out of Charming, a fictional town in CA.

It’s not that I didn’t want to watch it when it was on – I did, but like other shows that I watch (ie The Walking Dead), this show had huge lapses in time between seasons while it was on and frankly that annoys me to no end, so I purposely waited on this one.  I don’t like waiting and the only reason I still watch TWD live is well, zombies.

3. Once Upon a Time

The show takes place in the fictional seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, whose residents are characters from various fairy tales transported to the “real world” town and robbed of their real memories by a powerful curse.

once upon a time

I totally missed the boat on this one.  I don’t think I even found out about it until the 2nd or 3rd season, but I know I am going to like this show and can’t wait to find some time to sit down and finally start watching it.

I already mentioned that I never miss The Walking Dead & The Blacklist, but in case either of those shows are on your shelfie list and you’ve been dying to start watching one or both of them, The Blacklist: Season 1-2 and The Walking Dead are both available for streaming on Netflix.  There are also some other great shows that are now available that you can stream such as Gotham: Season 1 (Available 9/21), Grey’s Anatomy and Heroes. Check out the great library of fall shows you can stream this month on Netflix!

Tell me, what’s on your Netflix shelfie list?

Note: I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team.  As part of the #streamteam, I have received product and complimentary service, but all opinions are 100% my own.

  3. I am catching up on Once Upon a Time now! I LOVE Netflix for keeping me up to date!

  4. I’m a OUT fan myself and was watching several shows before my subscription ran out. I need to get back on Netflix again but just moving into a new home. I had recently discovered the Netflix Originals and was loving those. Do you have any favorites from the originals?

  5. Scandal for sure. They just added it to the Canadian netflix and I can finally catch up after not having cable for 2 years, I am in HEAVEN!

  8. I do like Scandal. Right now I’m locked into watching Dexter. I’m so hooked.

  9. I’m going to have to add Scandal to my lineup. I keep hearing such good things about that show.

  10. I’m in the last season of Sons of Anarchy and while I can’t wait to get from one episode to the next, I can’t stand it will be over. When I watched Dexter, it took me a looooooong time to stop being sad the series was finished.

  11. I’ve always wanted to see Gotham. It’s good to hear that I can now stream this on Netflix.

  12. I would want to watch all the seasons of Heroes from start to finish. I don’t know how or why I was not able to follow the series. It is a pretty good show!

  13. I am a MAJOR Blacklist fan! Love love love that show! I also do watch Once Upon A Time – yes a far cry from Blacklist but it is very good indeed too! I like a lot of your shows on your Shelfie list 🙂 Cute name for it and yes I have one too even though my kids are young adults now – they still always need mama!

  14. Once Upon A Time sounds like a great show. I would love to watch this.

  15. Once Upon a Time is on my Shelfie list too. Sounds like you would recommend the Black List? That’s on my list too!!

  16. We have Netflix and I have not seen these. I will have to add them to my list to watch! What a great selection!

  17. You gave me some new shows to try! We will look into getting Netflix!

  18. I have never done Netflix. I keep wanting to get started on Once Upon A Time, so maybe this is as good a time as any to start!

  19. I don’t have a lot of time for TV, and when I do, I usually watch a kids show with my kids. Netflix has great movies and shoes for kids. Love it!

  20. Good choices. I’m more of a comedy man. Currently watching Louis CK and The League.

  21. You and I are on the same list. I have not watches Sons of Anarchy but I also love the Netflix original series. They’ve done a great job with character development and plot. House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and my latest Sense8; a real mind bender!

  22. I have missed two years of NCIS (my favorite show) and NEED to catch up I feel like I have missed so much.

  23. I definitely have a Netflix Shelfie List! lol Orange is the New Black is at the top of it and I really want to find time to have a little marathon watching! Best of luck to your oldest with his Black Belt test!

  24. You’ve got some good ones here. My sister and my niece watch Once Upon a Time together, and I love Sons of Anarchy.

  25. I love Scandal. I started late, so I’ve been watching them all on my Netflix. It’s so much fun!

  26. Have you watched MadMen yet!?! OMG I can’t believe I put it off so long! I have binged every episode Netflix has and I am praying daily they get the rest of the series soon so I dont have to buy it off iTunes LOL

  27. I’m almost caught up on my Netflix Shelfie List – working on Ally McBeal now LOL I will say that you DEFINITELY have to watch Scandal!!!

  28. I so love my netflix. I’m always behind on the hit show’s. When I finally get in I’m season’s behind .. lol

  29. The Blacklist is one of our favorite shows. I set the DVR to record it if I won’t be able to watch it when it is on. I just had a Netflix marathon watching the Arrow.

  31. American netflix is so much better than ours here in Canada 😛 I’ve been watching Community lately 🙂

  32. My daughter really likes Once Upon a Time. She says it is a good show.

  33. Thank you for sharing your input on these shows. I haven’t personally watched these (I’m afraid ill get hooked!) but i love netflix and have ran out of options. lol

  34. I have to say my shelfie list is mostly movies. Now that my kids are teen I get to watch more “grownup” movies…when they are at school and such. LOL And then there are the books. My book shelfie is FULL! And then poof they are gone and we wonder where all the time went.

  35. Eventually I want to watch the Walking Dead. My Hubby is really into it and I would love to be able to talk to him more about it.

  36. I haven’t seen any of these! I need to catch up and check them out

  37. I’m so bad at watching dramas on TV, not sure why I used to be on top of all of them, but alas, I need to catch up 😀

  38. I have tons of British shows on my list but I also have Sons of Anarchy. You are going to love Scandal! House of Cards is my favorite 🙂

  39. I just love the BlackList. One of my fave shows to watch over and over. I do need to get caught up on Scandal.

  40. I loved the first season of Scandal, but now I can’t stand it :/ You have some great titles, though!

  41. Those are all great shows. Netflix is great!

  42. I am a huge Netflix Junky!! My shows of choice right now are Psych, Chuck and Covert Affairs.

    • I think my father in law used to watch Chuck. I’m pretty sure he tried getting me to watch too, but I never did. I’ll add that to my shelfie!

  43. I too have very little time to myself. I am currently addicted to Narcos, which is a Netflix original.

  44. I watch Once Upon a Time too. Right now I’m going through the series of NCIS and I’m on season 4 I believe. Love Netflix!!

  45. We are huge once upon a time fans!
Can not wait for the new season to start.
We have only watched a couple of episodes of sons of anarchy so that would be a great fall watch.

  46. I think it is a good thing to concoct a tv show wish list in addition to the shows you never miss. This way, you are ready if opportunity presents itself to get caught up watching some of this tv – it is a good way to pre-plan tv viewing!

  47. I absolutely love the show Once Upon A Time. It is super creative and takes you down some twists and turns.

  48. I don’t have a selfie list but I really enjoy Netflix for the documentary section. It is my go to spot for finding something to watch.

  49. I definitely have a shelfie list of my own and all I seem to be missing is more time to actually watch television. I caught up on Scandal via Netflix last year and am so excited that it returns tomorrow!

  50. We haven’t even tried Netflix yet. I think I already spend enough time in front of the TV, and that would only make me more of a couch potato 🙂

  51. I loved Once Upon A Time when I first started watching. We got rid of tv though, and I haven’t got up. I’m so happy it’s streaming.

  52. After watching the Emmy’s I realized how much there is I need to catch up on! I still haven’t seen Scandal!

  61. This is a great Shelfie Netflix list. Once upon a time is so good this season .. I like that they recently introduced maleficent and elsa and anna .. really loving it

  62. Good luck to your son on his test! I am sure he will do great. These are all good shows. I am wanting to catch up on a few shows myself.

  63. We have lots of Netflix faves. You have a good list.

  64. I am currently watching Glee all over again, and Parks and Rec

  65. I really want to watch Sons of Anarchy! That is on my list.

  66. Oh do I hear you! My kiddos have different start times and we also have soccer, cross country, and TKD as well. My shelfie list is getting longer by the day. I really think it’s been over a year since I’ve gotten to watch one of “my” shows…Grey’s Anatomy, Mike & Molly, and Downton Abbey here.

  67. I actually have yet to get on the Netflix band wagon, but I have every intention of doing so… There are so many great shows that I am dying to see.

  68. I can’t live without my Netflix!! Right now I’m watching Narcos!! OMG SO good!

  69. I’ve seen all of your Shelfies and they are worth dusting off! 😉 My list is long and currently my headphones are on for the first season of How To Get Away With Murder.

  70. Scandal, yes!!!! I love that show! I heard great things about Sons of Anarchy, that will be my next one!

  71. I am definitely checking out Netflix this weekend. I have missed a lot of good shows because of conflict of schedule with my job. I hope I will have more time on my hands to enjoy watching these shows.

  72. I dont have netflix. These shows sound good, maybe I need to sign up.

  73. I love Netflix.. I’ve heard so many great things about Son of Anarchy! I have to watch the show

  78. I would definitely add One Upon a Time to my shelfie list, I have heard great things about the show however I sadly never had caught it on tv.

  79. I have just come across “Scandal.” I think this would be a great watch this weekend. Thanks to Netflix. They are lifesavers!

  80. We really enjoyed Once Upon A Time but didn’t take the time to actually watch last season so it’s sitting on the DVR. Opps! I just started Melissa & Joey from my shelfie list.

  81. So I just started watching Scandal and am totally addicted! You will love it!

  82. Sons of Anarchy was THE best series… after the Sopranos. Haven’t seen Scandal yet but may have to binge-watch on Netflix!

  83. Right now I’m loving Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal. Okay, loving is an understatement….I am addicted!

  84. My husband and I are deciding on which show we’d like to start watching but can’t decide! I want to watch every one of these!

  85. I seldom watch TV these days but when I do, watch cooking shows. I never watched the ones on your list. wish I have Netfix.

  86. Love watching Scandal. Looks like I am addicted. Thanks for sharing your amazing list. Bookmarked, they are on my list as well now 🙂

  87. Once Upon a Time is great!!! But I did miss last season, so I will have to catch up too.

I definitely never miss The Walking Dead live and I can’t wait until this new Season!!! The one show I regret not having watched “live” was 24. I know, I know – I think I am the only person in the world who has not seen that show yet. But honestly, have you ever seen Kiefer play a bad guy in a movie? he scares the crap out of me. I know he plays a good guy in 24, but still — he’s so good I still have nightmares from The Lost Boys!
The one I loved catching up with the most was definitely Arrested Development and Breaking Bad. Two of the best shows to air Ever – I think.

  88. The hubs and I have been hooked in watching Daredevil. Our son watched the first episode, but some scenes were just so violent and graphic so I’m glad he decided not to continue watching it.

  89. It sounds like you’re a busy mom. I have Scandal and Game of Thrones on my Shelfie list.

  90. I like to watch all the anime and cartoons on Netflix. It’s fun to sneak and watch them while my son is in school.

  91. Scandal is the BEST! I binge watch it a lot because I can’t handle just watching one episode at a time!

  92. We are watching 30 Rock right now after getting done with Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Parks and Rec. I’m watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on my own.

  93. Just finished catching up on Once Upon a Time & Madam Secretary – Next is Suits – fun post! I didn’t think of them as shelfies 🙂

  94. I am right there with you on Once Upon A Time and Scandal. I also use Netflix to watch shows that I never finished when it was live such as Xena, Lost, and Dexter.

  95. I haven’t heard the first and second, but the once upon a time looks interesting.

  96. I have to admit that I’ve never seen SOA and Scandal. I hear they’re all the rage but still haven’t watched it so it’s on my shelfie too.

  97. I actually just started my Netflix back up again and have been adding so many things to my queue! There just aren’t enough hours in the day!

  98. YES to Once Upon a Time! It’s like the only show that my husband and I have managed to keep up with since it’s more-or-less family friendly. LOVE that show!

  99. I have been wanting to watch Scandal for ages. It sounds so good. I don’t have netflix although thinking of getting it. I really want to watch orange is the new black 🙂

  100. Mine is CSI! I need to catch-up before the Finale. 🙂

  101. It took me ages before I watched Sons of Anarchy. I’m happy that I gave it a chance! I was instantly hooked on it after watching the first episode.

  102. I know what you mean about the schedule being thrown off – I have one in each school (elementary, middle, and high) so the morning and afternoon are always a mess. I’m rewatching Sons of Anarchy on Netflix now.

  103. One Upon a Time is definitely on my list of shows to watch. I missed it and my older daughter is now reading one of the books and wants to see it too.

  104. I’m working on convincing my kids that Once Upon A Time has princesses in it and we should watch it… 🙂 Tired of kid’s tv

  105. I have never watched once upon a time, I need to catch that!

  106. Robin, you will LOVE Scandal! I started off watching season one on Netflix and 8 hours later (I watched the entire first season in one sitting…lol!) I was hooked!! Such a great, scandalous show! (o;

  107. Scandal is awesome! So excited for new shows to watch this fall!
