A couple of weekends ago, Chris & I took the boys to a Providence Bruins game. The P-Bruins are the AHL team for the Boston Bruins and they played the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins the day we went.
“The American Hockey League is a 30-team professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary developmental circuit for the National Hockey League”
The P-Bruins play down in Rhode Island at the Dunkin Donuts Center (aka the dunk). Tickets are MUCH cheaper than tickets to a Boston Bruins game and frankly, it’s a lot more fun for the kids.
I got the tickets the night before and there were still great seats available. I ended up scoring us third row seats right behind the players box.
We were right next to where the players came out, too, which was pretty cool.
Here is my nine year old scoring himself some hand slaps from the players as they took the ice.
The boys loved watching them practice before the game:
It was an awesome game and we all really enjoyed being so close to the players.
There were a couple of good fights, too.
Of course, the highlight of the day wasn’t the game -it was the Zamboni machines. At least as far as my kids went.
And it just wouldn’t be an outing with my little guy if there wasn’t some sort of meltdown while we were there:
Want to know why he was so upset? Because he, his brother & Chris made it onto the Fan Cam up on the jumbotron & he didn’t want to be on tv. No, I am no kidding.
We didn’t win the game (the score was 5 to 1, Penguins), but we still had a blast at the game.
