Yesterday, Chris & I took the gruesome twosome to the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Abington, MA. Back in the day, I used to go to the big parade in Southie (Boston), but the crowd can get a little rowdy in the city, so I wanted to take them to a smaller event like the one in Abington.
As far as parades go, it was a pretty decent one to be honest. It was our first year attending that parade and the boys loved it. Maybe I should clarify, though. They loved all the candy they collected from the people throwing it off of the floats.
We got there a little early so that we could get a good spot to see the parade.
Once it started, fire trucks from Abington and other local towns drove by followed by floats, antique cars, horses, marching bands and even bagpipers.
Heck, there was even a random goat in the parade. Actually I think he was from the 4H club, but don’t quote me on that.
But themost important part of the day, by far, was to collect as much candy thrown off of the floats as humanly possible!
The little one wasn’t above begging for it, either.
They each ended up with a bag full of loot and we all had a blast at the parade. If you’re looking for an alternative to the big parade in Boston next year, the one that Abington puts on is definitley worth checking out.
