The Hollywood Walk of Fame
When we were in California recently, we made the two hour drive up from San Diego to spend a few hours in Hollywood.  Aside from seeing the famous Hollywood Sign, the other thing we really wanted to do was to see some of the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In my mind I pictured the stars all neatly lined up in corded off section of the sidewalk, but the stars were literally part of the sidewalk that all the foot traffic/tourists used.  The stars are spread all up and down the sidewalk on both sides of Hollywood Blvd for about 15 blocks or so, but we just walked up a few blocks.  Here are some of the pictures I took while we were checking out the stars.

There were hundreds more stars that we didn’t see, but I am happy with what we saw.

  1. I couldn’t believe Vin Diesel had a star. Britney, yes, but Diesel? Come on.

  2. Cools shots, that must have been a fun walk! Happy Wordless Wednesday! 🙂

  3. I always thought that the walk of fame was corded off somewhat. I didn’t realize it was just part of the everyday sidewalk that people walk on repeatedly.

  4. Nice photos fun, but you seemed to have missed my star …damn 🙂

    Have a poptastic week

  5. Looked like fun and like I have said before, I hope to get to dot his someday, too 🙂

  6. Very Cool, now how does it feel to have walked the walk of fame???
    Have a lovely week.

  7. We had fun there years ago; what fun to see all the names.

  8. How much fun is that- I always wanted to go there.

  9. Shrek was one of our favorite stars too.

  10. This is on my bucket list. I have many stars to visit. What a great time!

  11. I love that Shrek has a star! My kids would love that!

  12. That would be so neat to see all those names! How funny they have Shrek on a star.

  13. How fun to see!! I didn’t know that Shrek and fictional characters had stars. Definitely something to go visit!

  14. Some great clicks Robin :))
I went there like ages back. And, guess what did I get ‘clicked’ with– Walt Disney’ 😛
I see Donald Duck..maybe it wasnt there in 1999

  15. Awesome! Definitely on my list of places to see one day.

  16. Funny, somehow I didn’t imagine Godzilla, Shrek, or Dear Abby would be among the names. 15 blocks sounds like a lot! Take care! Tina from Amanda’s Books and More

  17. Hari OM
Fun fun fun!!! I am a trekker so the Shatner one caught my eye… and you gave me my theme for next week’s Peeks!!!….

  18. Wow, I’ve always wanted to go see this! I should add it to my bucket list, even though California is on it – this needs to be specific! How very cool!

  19. That is very cool. I bet it goes on for blocks.

  20. Oh how cool is this! I would love to visit their some day. Love how some animated characters made it to the list. You all had such a blast out there, love reading your updates! 😉

  21. What a fun trip! Your kids are so cute!!

  22. I’m with you I would have thought it would be roped off. I so have to go sometime!

  23. I would love to do this walk too. You got some great pics. Donald Duck is my fave. 🙂

  24. What I found interesting is that there are some people who have more than one star. The emblem in the middle is what that star is for so people who are cross-talented (actor, director, singer, whatever) may have more than one. It’s also amazing to see the memorials. Every time we went, there was at least one memorial set up for someone who had recently passed away.

  25. Fun! It looks like you had such a great trip!

  26. The girls would love that! So much fun!

  27. I’ll bet it was fun to walk along and see which star was next which. I was shocked when I learned that the stars had to pay for their stars!

  28. Is this different from the handprints?

  29. That would be SO much fun! I think it’s funny that Shrek has one haha.

  30. I saw that too over 20 yrs ago – lol – I remember taking some pics and back then Ed Mcmahon was a skit on SNL or something so for some reason we got a pick of Ed McMahon’s lol

cute pics! Go Donald Duck 🙂

  31. Cool photos! I can tell you had a lot of fun looking at the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Have a terrific day!

  32. I remember seeing it for the first time – it’s so cool!! Love the pictures!

  33. Godzilla has his own marker? i had no idea! i would keep running into people watching the sidewalk.

  34. FUN! I think my kids would get a kick out of the walk of fame. I actually have never taken them to see it.

  35. How fun! I have always wanted to visit the Walk, but living in Kansas means it’s WAY too far, haha!

  36. You saw some good ones. I always thought it would be cool to see the walk of fame, but I’ve never been.

  37. I had no idea that Dear Abby had a star, that’s neat. I’ve been to LA a few times and I always stop and take pics of my favorite stars.

  38. How cool. I have never seen it before, but I would love to someday.

  39. Too funny! I didn’t know Godzilla and Donald Duck had stars!

  40. I live so close to there and have never been. Sounds like a blast.

  41. How fun – I am sure your whole family got a kick out of this.

  42. I love walking down the streets looking at the stars. So funny to watch everyone looking down, there must be many collisions! lol

  43. Lots of stars there to see and surprise, surprise. I know most of them you showed us.

  44. What fun! I went last year and had a great time. So many neat names.

  45. I honestly wish when I lived in California that I went and did this type of stuff but I lived up north and southern cali just seemed so far away. It looks like a great trip.

  46. So cool! This is definitely something I want to check out in my lifetime!

  47. Very fun trip! I remember when I went there, I was surprised that people just walk all over them(I was young LOL)

  48. So cool, I’ve always wanted to go there! I can’t believe Shrek has his own star.

  49. So many fun ones that I would have never thought of either…..GODZILLA! And Judge Wapner!! Loved him! I’d love to go to Hollywood and see all the crazy things. It’s on my bucket list.

  53. Very exciting. I would love to do that. This is an awesome trip!

  54. Shrek has a star?!?! That is so funny!

  55. I’ve never been to Hollywood before but from the stories I’ve heard and the pictures I’ve seen I know the stars’ stars are basically scattered everywhere! What a fun thing to see 🙂

  56. What a fun visit, I would have my daughter stand on Dear Abby and take a picture – her name is Abi!

  57. Your son’s expression is so bad ass near MJ’s star lol!!

  58. So cool! This is one of my bucket list items!

  59. I have always wanted to see the Walk of Fame. It’s on my bucket list.

  60. What a cool trip! Looks like you had a blast!

  61. How exciting for you guys! I would love to visit!

  62. Ha, ha, ha… Oh my goodness, I had no clue that Donald Duck was on the walk of fame… I have always wanted to go myself, and hope to one day

  63. Shrek and Donald Duck, huh? I hear that They don’t take care of the stars on the walk. If the celebs want them clean and shiny, they have to hire someone to come out to clean them, or they have to do it themselves.

  64. I had no idea there was so much variety in the type of “stars” who get immortalized. How fun!

  65. That’s really cool. I’d love to see the Hollywood walk of fame.

  66. the walk for the stars is SO LONG! i never realized just how long until i saw it myself!!

  67. Did you know the stars actually have to pay for their “stars”? I never noticed that they have a symbol to denote their profession. Thanks for sharing.

  68. Pretty awesome!

  69. That’s awesome that Godzilla has his own star! The Ogre and I saw the new movie this Sunday. 😀

  70. That is so cool! And you got to see Bill Cosby’s star! He is the one star I’d love to meet and get a picture with his star!

  71. That is one of the things I would have loved to see. Even if it is just a sidewalk, it is still pretty neat. I had no idea there were stars for Shrek and Donald Duck type characters.

  72. You sure are enjoying Hollywood, I can tell first you stalk stars then you walk on the stars on the walk of fame that’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

  73. So cool! Ugh – I am squeeling over here. such a pathetic fangirl I am. Thanks for getting a shot of Keanu’s!! And Shatner too! Canada actually has a walk of fame as well, but I haven’t seen that one either.

  74. I’ve always wanted to see the Walk of Fame. Does Madonna have a star there? If so, I would have to snap a picture of myself with it!

  75. The Harlem Gloabetrotters? That one I would not have guessed! This trip has looked like so much fun!

  76. I have been the walk of fame but I don’t think I even noticed half of the stars you took. too cool!!

  77. The kids were obviously most excited with Shrek! 🙂

  78. That looks so fun. I really need to plan a family trip to California.

  79. This looks so cool 🙂 I would be very excited to check out these Hollywood walk of Fame 🙂

  80. That is a lot of stars! Definitely a large assortment! I love that Donald Duck has one!

  81. Oh, for fun!! I love all the different names – some surprised me! 🙂

  82. It’s been a while since we’ve been there, but we too also wondered how some of the more obscure (and fictional) people got stars there.

  83. I want to go see this!! How fun! I don’t know what I imagined they’d be lined up like, but I think it was somewhat different than what it is. Very interesting!

  84. Haha I bet that is annoying when people stop and take pictures then if the sidewalk is just the regular one?! How does that work? Very cool though.

  85. This looks like so much fun. Definitely a place I’ve got on my bucket list!

  86. How neat! I love how the boys chose the Shrek star LOL

  87. I am so excited to be seeing this soon. Hoping son will be just as excited.

  88. was there one for Mark Wahlberg? If not, he needs one right now. Looks like a great thing to check out in Hollywood

  89. This is definitely on my must see list! Godzilla and Shrek?!! Awesome!

  90. That looks like it was such a Cool trip!

  91. I loved the walk of fame, it was fun seeing all of the names!

  92. That’s actually something that has always been on my bucket list. I’ve been to Los Angeles but never to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hopefully someday!

  93. I love this Hollywood tradition! I loved looking through the stars and finding my favorites!

  94. I can’t believe Judge Wapner has a star! But I love that Shrek does.

  95. Nice pictures, I really like how Godzilla has his own star; it’s well deserved.

  96. Great pictures! I’d love to see these stars and pick out our favorites!

  97. I hope you avoided all those street performers/scammers! It really is an overrated tourist trap for the most part. I did get excited to see the Backstreet Boys star, haha 😛

  98. I absolutely would love to visit here! I think checking out the stars would be awesome!

  99. We head to Hollywood every now and then. It’s really fun to be a tourist even though we live here. It’s easy to forget or take for granted the cool things that are here.

  100. keanu reeves…..swoon! Great post – and awesome pics. Wish I was there!

  101. Judge, who? Never heard of him! Haha. But anyways, that’s so cool that you got to visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 🙂

  102. Looks like you had fun! I would love to visit hollywood one day!

  103. I visited the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the first time last year. My favorite was Frank Sinatra’s.

  104. Hollywood has changed so much just in the 34 years that we have lived here, let alone since the 40s and 50. It is a shame and it is a big tourist trap. I remember seeing these stars when we first moved out here and it was really quite exciting.

  105. Some day I will like to go over and check out the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I was under the impression that only actors and actress got their stars. It is surprising to see the animated characters have their own stars.

  106. It’s really kinda weird the way it’s set up. You’d definitely think it would be more glamorous.

  107. I’d love to walk the stars one day. Kevin Spacey is a favorite right now.

  108. Lets hear it for Donald DUCK! LOL I always loved going down the hollywood walk of fame.

  109. Ooh I’d love to go there one day!! I love that I just realized that each start has a different icon for their genre of entertainment.. I’m a goober!

  110. wooooow….will come to visit hereee someday…cool..

  111. Hmmm BORING! I thought they had like their handprints and stuff or is that somewhere else I am thinking of.

  112. I so want to see this one day! I didn’t even know Dear Abby had one!

  113. That’s awesome. i’d love to go to this place one day.

  114. We have a couple blocks here in Toronto with stars too … and like there, they are in the middle of the sidewalk for all to walk on.

  115. Who knew the Muppets, Shrek, and Donald Duck all had their own stars?! Fun!
