A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to attend an event put on by our local major league soccer team, The New England Revolution. The event was a fashion show, held at Royale Night Club in Boston, in which they would be unveiling their new 2014 team uniforms.
Before the fashion show started, there was a cocktail hour with the players, which gave fans a chance to grab some autographs and take pictures with their favorite players. Here I am with Bobby Shuttleworth, Goalkeeper.
I got to meet a lot of the players, actually.
Around 7 pm, it was time for the fashion show where players and their family modeled some team gear.
The final part of the fashion show was the official unveiling of the new primary kit (uniforms).
The new design features a simple dark navy jersey that is significantly lighter in weight than previous years; a larger, re-designed logo for the team’s official jersey partner, United Healthcare; three red stripes down both shoulders of the jersey; the Flag of New England centered between players’ shoulders on the back; “New England EST 1996” printed on the inside neck of the jersey; a red, white and blue interwoven stripe across the back, above the players’ names; white shorts with three red stripes down the sides; and blue socks with thin horizontal white lines spaced evenly down the leg and foot.
After they left the stage, the players who were wearing the new jerseys came out into the audience so that we could get a closer look at them. I accosted poor Charlie Davies for a picture as he passed by.
I am hoping to make it to at least one game this year. After all, they play at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro (that’s also where the New England Patriots play) and that’s only about 15 minutes from my house.
So, what do you think of the new jerseys?
