It’s so important to stay physically active regardless of what’s going on in the world. With most of us being stuck at home for months now, I wanted to share some simple ideas to help you stay active during these difficult days. Below you’ll find a list of ideas and activities that can help you remain physically active while you’re stuck at home.
Ideas to Stay Physically Active While Stuck at Home
Virtual Yoga Classes
There are many virtual yoga classes you can attend while you’re stuck at home. From free apps that allow you to use their yoga classes to inexpensive online yoga classes that help you connect with others during a yoga session, there are many options to sneak in a yoga class from home.
Run Around Your Yard
If you’re reluctant to run on a jogging trail or on your local community streets, you can switch things up by jogging around the external border of your home. This works well for homeowners or those renting a full house, but you can find ways to run around your apartment indoors if you’re stuck inside.
Declutter Your Home
You may be surprised to learn that decluttering your home counts as physical activity. Think about how much you move when you’re going through your closets, underneath beds, and other areas of the home to remove necessary items. Make a plan to declutter your house to free up physical clutter all the while maintaining some daily physical activity.
Have a Dance Party
Get the music blasting and have yourself a joyous time dancing around the house to your favorite music. This is a fun way to destress and enjoy physical activity with your whole family. If you’re stuck at home alone, then use Zoom to connect with friends as you all try new dance moves together.
Don’t own weights? No problem! You can easily use canned goods and gallon jugs filled with water to lift weights while you’re stuck at home. Lifting weights is a fabulous way to get your muscles toned up after the long winter season so that you can come out of shelter looking fit as can be.
Remember that by being physically active you’re saying yes to your health even while you’re struggling with everything going in the world. These simple ideas shared above will encourage you to get up and get moving so that you can feel confident, happy, and remain physically healthy while stuck at home.
